Co-creator and star of Schitt's Creek Dan Levy has taken to Twitter to call out Comedy Central India for editing out a gay kiss between two male characters in a scene from the popular sitcom.
Last March, the Twitter account for Comedy Central India posted a scene featuring kisses between several characters while they play spin the bottle. But while kisses between two women and between men and women were kept in, the kiss between David Rose (played by Levy) and Ted Mullens (played by Dustin Milligan) was censored.

"You showed the kiss between two women, you showed the kiss between a woman and a man, then removed the kiss between two men?" Levy wrote on Twitter. "This is a show about the power of inclusivity. The censorship of gay intimacy is making a harmful statement against that message."

Levy added, "I thought I made this pretty clear but for those who are confused, this is about a channel in India. Comedy Central in America is not censoring the show. They have been lovely and respectful. Thank you for your time."

In recent weeks there has been a real surge in streams of Schitt’s Creek. In fact, according to Indie Wire, as of today, the Emmy Award-winning sitcom is the second most-streamed TV series on Netflix. Coming in on top is the platform's new original series Emily in Paris. Overall, Schitt's Creek is the third overall most-streamed show.
