Someone found out what the characters from 'The Simpsons' look like front-on and it's horrifying

Everybody knows The Simpsons. The animated series has aired for 29 seasons, producing an incredible 629 episodes. (And I can't even count how many jobs Homer's had.) It's the longest-running American sitcom, and shows no sign of stopping. When the show started, I was close to Lisa's age (Woo-hoo!). Now I'm close to Homer's age (D'oh!). Man, is that depressing.

You probably think you've seen The Simpsons in every way possible. Over the years, the show's style has evolved, from crude hand-drawn animation to smooth, HD computer animation. There have also been special segments portraying the characters in 3D, claymation, and even as puppets. However, the Twitter user @butchcoded discovered a whole new way to see the cartoon family: From the front-on. Spoiler alert: It is not exxxcelent.

¡Ay, caramba! That is absolutely horrifying, right? I mean, The Simpsons characters are already fairly horrifying, given their banana-yellow skin, massive overbites, and four-fingered hands. But I guess we're so used to seeing them from the side, or so caught up in the comedy, that we never took a second to really drink in what these bug-eyed freaks look like from the front. Worst. Revelation. Ever.

Let's see if you recognize some your favorite characters. And no, this does not Milhouse. Nobody likes Milhouse.

Homer

Bart

Lisa

Mr. Burns

Ralph Wiggum

Lenny

Marge

Marge comes off looking the best front-on, but we all know she's a babe. Hard to believe she's still with that dumb bald fat guy. How many times have they broken up and gotten back together by now? It might be time to give Artie Ziff a call. On the flipside, Lenny comes off looking the worst. Poor Lenny. At least his best friend Carl Carlson will never leave his side.

The tweet about front-facing Simpsons characters went viral, getting over 35,000 retweets and 100,000 likes. Maybe in a future episode The Simpsons will reference how freaky their characters look facing from the front. After over 600 episodes, it's one of the few jokes they haven't done yet. And I for one welcome our new front-facing overlords.
