Taking to Twitter to break the news to the Modern Family fanbase, actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson uploaded a picture of himself posing alongside the adorable pup and captioned the pic: "Rest In Peace sweet Beatrice. We love you so much [sic]"
In the show, Stella is the pampered pet of Ed O'Neil's character Jay Pritchett. The animal survived just long enough for series to finish on the last ever season of the show and had also appeared in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Workaholics.

According to a blog post by Beatrice's owners, Ed O'Neil himself was just as enamored with the pooch as his character was. Guin and Steve Solomon stated: "Ed O'Neill is in love with her! It's very easy working with him because he brings Beatrice treats like popcorn and always looks out for her."
They continued: "We'll be doing scenes in the backyard by the pool and in between takes he'll say, 'Would you please get Beatrice an umbrella, she's in the sun!'"
The eleventh and final season of Modern Family premiered on ABC on September 25, 2019, and the finale of the show is scheduled to air in two parts on the 8th of April. It's sad that cute little Beatrice won't be around to see it air, but it's clear that she will be sorely missed by fans.
