The first rule of Fight Club is that we don’t talk about Fight Club.
With that being said, here is an article specifically about Fight Club.
If you’ve seen the movie, then you probably think it’s the best thing ever, or you roll your eyes at the mere mention of the name.
Well, one student clearly enjoyed it so much that they decided to write an entire essay dedicated to it.
Meet Allison Garrett, the bold student who decided to write her film review assignment on Fight Club in just 19 words.
Now, if you’re familiar with essays, then you’re probably scratching your head at how an essay of 19 words was not only accepted but given the highest possible grade.
Sharing the stunt on X, she explained how it all went down: “The assignment description for essay 5 was to write a review of a movie that we had seen. The opportunity arose, and I took my chances.”
And take them she did.

Her entire essay? Just one sentence from the movie: “The first rule of fight club is: you do not talk about fight club.”
Then she dropped the mic with the closing line: “That's it, that's my essay.”
It’s the kind of thing most students dream of doing but don’t dare to try. Yet Allison did it - and then owned it.
In the comments, she doubled down: “I cannot say that I am sorry because that would be a lie. Am I Proud? Yes.”
And in case anyone thought it was a joke, she posted proof: a screenshot of her professor’s actual feedback.
You’d think a stunt like this would land you in academic hot water, but Allison’s professor saw the humor - and surprisingly, the relevance.
“I struggled over this grade for a long time,” they wrote in the feedback. “I finally decided you get a grade for a laugh and how relevant your review is for this particular movie.”
But they added a fair warning: “Let me warn you: do NOT try this kind of thing with other professors; they may not have my sense of humor.”

Unsurprisingly, Allison’s bold move went viral. Her post blew up with likes and comments, with people either praising her creativity or expressing the exact kind of fear that held them back from doing the same.
One person summed it up perfectly: “I was always told life is about taking risks... I was scared to say the least.”
And as for the final result?
Allison sealed the deal, writing: “I got a 100 on the paper and passed the class with an A.”
