A trailer for a new Netflix rom-com, Tall Girl, has just dropped on social media.

Due to be released on the streaming platform on September 13, the movie follows the character of Jodi (played by 6"1 actress Ava Michelle) a 16-year-old who is the tallest girl in her school, and who has been bullied throughout her life because of her height.

However, the self-conscious Jodi soon becomes smitten with Swedish exchange student Stig (played by Luke Eisner), an equally-tall boy who seems to be a perfect match for her. Sadly, he's quickly nabbed by the most popular girl in school, and thus Jodi has to accept herself for who she is in order to win his heart.

The movie's synopsis on Netflix's official YouTube channel states: "Jodi, the tallest girl in her high school, has always felt uncomfortable in her own skin. But after years of slouching, being made fun of, and avoiding attention at all costs, Jodi finally decides to find the confidence to stand tall."

Commenting on the movie in a recent interview with Teen Vogue, director Nzingha Stewart stated: "Ava knows on such a personal level what it is like to be told 'you’re too tall.'"

She added: "Ava uses every sensitivity, every time she’s been hurt for being 'too tall' and puts it on screen so that the audience can really feel Jodi’s experience and understand her awkwardness, timidity, and how powerful it is for her to stand up and say 'I’m enough. Just the way I am.'"

Meanwhile, Ava herself stated: "Us tall people can finally have something we can relate to, but it's not just about being tall. It's about anyone's insecurity. We all have that one thing, or those hundreds of things, that we wish we could change."
