The cast of the 'Gossip Girl' reboot has been announced

Anyone who considers themselves a fan of the beloved teen series Gossip Girl will be pleased to know that not only is a reboot in the works - but we now know who will be in the main cast.

Per Deadline, HBO has announced that Emily Alyn Lind (Code Black), Whitney Peak (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Eli Brown (Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists), Johnathan Fernandez (Lethal Weapon), and Jason Gotay (Peter Pan Live!) will be playing the latest crop of privileged high schoolers.

The series, which will be available to stream on HBO Max, will star teen actress Emily Alyn Lind, who played in the Blumhouse-Facebook Watch series Sacred Lies, CBS's Code Black and ABC's drama Revenge.

The synopsis of the reboot, according to Deadline, reads: "Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. "The prestige series will address just how much social media - and the landscape of New York itself - has changed in the intervening years."

Per Entertainment Tonight, Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, revealed that the reboot now has its first script:

"We have gotten the first script and I can tell you we all breathed a big sigh of relief because it's quite good. You can imagine the bar is very high. I think that one of the benefits of having the original creators involved, they're very clear of what the essential elements of the show are and are not. And also, really excited to bring a modern lens to it 10 years later. Josh and team have done a great job so far."

Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, Kelly Rutherford, Matthew Settle, Jessica Szohr, and Kaylee DeFer featured in the main cast of the original series.

The Gossip Girl reboot will launch later this year on HBO Max.
