There's no doubt that the smash success of Stranger Things on Netflix has reminded everyone of  classic eighties movie, namely Richard Donner's 1985 film The Goonies. Yes, all those scenes of kids on bikes having adventures in small-town America really reminded us all about what was great about this story, and the appearance of Sean Astin in season two of Stranger Things made us crave a sequel more than ever.

However, fans don't have to just wish for it any more. Apparently, the cast members themselves are on board, and one famous person has even stated that he believes that we will get a Goonies Two one day in the future.

Check out the trailer for the original 1985 movie below:

During a Q&A at the FAN EXPO Canada, stars Sean Astin, Corey Feldman and Ke Huy Quan were asked if the rumours of a sequel were true. Astin stated that he believed that it would happen ''someday'' while Quan added that it was the question he'd been asked the most in more than 30 years.

This seems to corroborate other statements made in the past. For instance, in an April 2019 interview with Collider, Sean Astin stated: "I think we've probably passed the threshold for which all of us original cast members are right for doing a sequel."

He added: "The audience is so powerful and so devoted to it that I'm absolutely convinced that it will at the very least will be rebooted, which I would be fine with. If it's not as good as the original Goonies, then okay, who cares, at least it's out there."

Meanwhile, in an interview with Us Magazine, Corey Feldman stated: "Sean Astin and I actually wrote a pitch, a treatment of about 10 pages that we took into [director] Richard Donner and a representative of [screenwriter] Chris Columbus and Steven [Spielberg]. We pitched it and Donner loved it, but he said it was too expensive an idea."
