Netflix’s lockdown megahit Tiger King has created many unexpected stars.
From Carole Baskin’s unmistakable video monologues to Joe Exotic’s mullet, the show has probably spawned more memes than the rest of Netflix’s back catalog put together. Small wonder, then, that some of the show’s most recognizable faces want to strike out on their own.
Two of the saga’s most controversial side-characters, shady zoo investor Jeff Lowe and his wife Lauren Dropla, recently revealed that they will be appearing in their own spin-off series, with the intention of setting the record straight on the events shown in Tiger King.

In a recent interview with People, Lowe revealed that the as-yet-untitled series will "divulge a lot more information about the relationship between" both himself and the now-imprisoned zoo-keeper Joseph Maldonado-Passage.
Lowe provided further insight, adding:
"It'll be our narrative on the Tiger King with evidence to support our sides of the stories. And it will be about the transfer of all these beautiful animals from Joe's facility to the new facility."
"And then the day-to-day struggle of running something as big as a 60-acre animal park and all the intricacies of the employment of zookeepers and fighting all of the animal rights groups."
The “new facility” refers to Lowe’s plans for a brand new Oklahoma zoo, dubbed ‘Tiger King Park’.

Despite Lowe’s obvious enthusiasm for the project, it is clear that production is experiencing some complications. As he explained:
"They haven't even given us an exact date of production. It's in pre-production right now. It's with The Content Group in California, and it will prove to be very, very informative.
"We're filming B-roll right now. It's hard with COVID-19 to put crews together and get them all out here, staying in hotels. It's just a little bit difficult, but I think they anticipate a few more weeks before they start all of the big camera filming."

It looks like fans will have to wait a while for what promises to be a highly anticipated follow-up.
