Following their roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home, both Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe have broken a little-known Guinness World Record.

Since hitting movie theaters on December 15, No Way Home has continued to receive overwhelming praise.

The movie is currently the highest-rated MCU movie on IMDb with 8.7/10 - beating out Infinity War and Endgame, both of which are rated 8.4. And per Digital Spy, No Way Home has become the first movie in the "pandemic era" to gross $1 billion - as well as being the third fastest movie in history to reach the milestone.

So, how did No Way Home become Sony's highest-grossing movie ever? Well, I could spend all day complimenting the acting, visual effects, directing, and writing, but the truth is; the movie is the perfect love letter to the Spider-Man character in cinema.

Along with Tom Holland's lovable wall-crawler, the MCU's multiverse allowed both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to reprise their roles as Spider-Man from their respective movies - bringing together three generations of cinema for a moment fans will never forget.

And as well as the heroes, villains from past Spider-Man flicks also made a comeback, such as Jamie Foxx's Electro and Alfred Molina's Doc Ock.

However, no villain was more captivating than Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin - whose portrayal was somehow even more haunting and menacing than he was nearly 20 years ago in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.

In fact, as well as breaking our hearts on the big screen, Dafoe and Maguire also managed to break a Guinness World Record after reprising their roles in the movie.

Per Screen Rant, both Maguire and Dafoe now held the record for having the longest career as a live-action Marvel character - with the official time clocking in at 19 years and 225 days.

The record was previously held by both Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart for their respective roles as Wolverine and Professor X. Jackman and Stewart first starred as the mutants in X-Men back in 2000, and would play their characters for a final time in 2017's Logan. (We assume for a final time, but this is Marvel, anything can happen.)

And with all this talk of records, it's worth noting that Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man also became the first movie in history to gross $100 million in a single weekend.

I guess people really do love their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
