Can you believe it has been nearly 16 years since the first feature-length Saw movie was released?

The original Saw movie completely reinvented the genre, as viewers were captivated by watching fundamentally flawed people fighting for their lives as they played the barbaric games of Jigsaw.

After eight movies, the Saw franchise is one of the most successful horror brands in cinema history, and since the release of the last movie - Jigsaw - back in 2017, fans have been craving more.

Well, they won't have to wait too long as the new trailer and poster for "Saw 9" have finally been revealed. Last year, the movie's official title was revealed: Spiral: From The Book of Saw, along with the announcement that Chris Rock would be starring in the movie.

Check out the heart-pounding trailer below:

The trailer was accompanied by the first 'Spiral' movie poster, as shared by the official Lionsgate Movies' Twitter page, along with the caption: "A new game begins. Introducing #Spiral: From The Book Of @Saw - In theaters May 15."

Per ScreenRant, Chris Rock wrote and produced the film, with Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed Saw II, III, and IV, once again back in the director's chair.

Last month, Rock told Collider in an interview about the new movie, saying that it will still be a traditional 'Saw' movie, but with some elements of comedy: "There are so many movies that I’ve watched and gone, 'Three jokes would have made that movie a lot better.' You know what I mean? A lot of times, you can get comedy in things, if it’s grounded, without it changing the movie, per se.

"Saw is really scary and really bloody. It’s a Saw movie. But every now and then, you take a little air out. It’s gonna be good.”
