Ever feel trapped watching a show you don’t like but have to finish just to see how it ends? Well, Netflix has found a solution: a series where you decide the order.

Yes, we've all heard of those books where YOU decide what chapter to read next - well fans have been buzzing over this Netflix series that essentially allows you to do the same thing.

And the best part? Depending on which order you pick the episodes (there's a helpful guide at the bottom of this article), your viewing experience will change - making for one of the most rewatchable series on the streaming platform.

Kaleidoscope is a unique crime anthology series where, as we say, the episodes can be watched in any sequence. The show, - which spans 25 years - follows a group of experienced thieves planning the ultimate heist — with the promise of a $7 billion payday.

Each of the eight episodes is named after a color - such as 'Yellow' or 'Green' - and unfolds a piece of the story. Viewers can start anywhere, explore the narrative from different perspectives, and still reach the same explosive finale, 'White', where the heist goes down.

And the show has a superb cast, with Giancarlo Esposito, Rufus Sewell, Paz Vega, Peter Mark Kendall, Rosaline Elbay, Jai Courtney, and Tati Gabrielle all delivering thrilling performances.

Pretty cool, right?

How It Works

Eric Garcia, the creator, showrunner, and executive producer of Kaleidoscope, explained the setup to Netflix’s Tudum: “There are five episodes that take place before the heist, two episodes that take place after the heist, and then you get the ‘White’ episode (finale).

"The idea is that when you watch the ‘White’ episode, you’re learning true answers to things that have been hinted about beforehand and afterward. You really find out everybody’s true motivations. It’s almost like a skeleton key.”

The series isn’t just fiction; it’s inspired by real events. Garcia shared how the story took shape, saying: “After Hurricane Sandy, $70 billion worth of bonds got flooded in the basement of the DTCC, which is a large clearing effort that’s owned by a bunch of the big banks.

"To my mind, I was like, ‘Well, that’s a perfect coverup for a heist!’”

The “Watch in Any Order” Experience

What makes Kaleidoscope even more intriguing is that it doesn’t matter where you begin—it all comes together. Executive producer Russell Fine reassured viewers: “When you watch Kaleidoscope, all the information is there to be able to connect the dots and know the story.”

So, whether you kick off with 'Violet' or dive straight into 'Green', the plot will still make sense - only your experience will change.

The episodes span from 24 years before the heist to six months after, so depending on your starting point, you’ll experience the crime’s timeline from a unique perspective.
