Filming for the Friends reunion is set to begin in August after it was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
This comes after news broke in February that a much-awaited reunion would be happening after each of the original cast members signed up to a one-off reunion special.
Martha Kauffman, who co-created the sitcom with David Crane, said he is hopeful that work can finally begin on the sitcom, which last aired in 2004, in two months' time after it was halted because of the coronavirus pandemic.
In an interview with The Wrap, she said: "We are hoping to be able to shoot in August if all is well and there is no early second wave and the studio is open,’ Kauffman.
"If everything is in place and we understand all the protocols and we can still make a good show, we’ll be shooting it some time, mid-to-late August."
Last year, Aniston also appeared on Ellen and confirmed that she would "love" to do a Friends reunion:Earlier this month, Lisa Kudrow, who played Pheobe Buffay in the series, teased a new twist to the Friends reunion show during an interview to promote her new Netflix comedy Space Force.
When Kudrow was asked if the reunion show would be scripted or not, she said: "There are other things in it. There are other things to it; things I shouldn't really talk about because they should be good - but those things can't happen [right now]. We just decided on another date and we'll see if we can do it then."
The Friends reunion was originally scheduled to air on May 27 to coincide with the launch of the new US streaming platform HBO Max. However, the coronavirus pandemic forced filming studios around the world to close - delaying a show that fans have been waiting for since the last Friends episode aired in 2004.
"It is definitely going to happen," Kudrow reiterated. "We just keep putting dates in the calendar. When we can do it, we will do it."
