Geena Davis has said she was left feeling "emotional and ashamed" by fellow actor Bill Murray as a result of his alleged behavior on the set of the 1990 comedy Quick Change.
On a recent episode of the On with Kara Swisher podcast, Davis discussed her career as an actress in Hollywood, and how she has often felt too polite to speak up in certain uncomfortable situations.
The 66-year-old Stuart Little star also spoke about Murray's awkward on-set behavior.
Murray, now 72, has previously been accused of sexual and inappropriate conduct by other female colleagues, per The Guardian.
Davis - who has appeared in numerous hit movies including Thelma & Louise and Beetlejuice - revealed the alleged interaction she had with Murray on the podcast episode. She recounted how she'd gone to meet Murray and Quick Change's producer and co-director in a hotel suite.
The Massachusetts native then recalled how she sat down on the corner of the bed as Murray asked: "Hey, have you ever tried the thumper?"
"I'm like, 'What? No. What’s that?'" she says, before adding that the Groundhog Day actor then stated: "Well come try it." Despite repeatedly saying "No," he apparently became insistent, telling Davis to "lay down." She continues: "He keeps at it. And I keep saying 'No' to the point where I would've had to scream at him, 'Stop f***ing asking me! I am not doing it. Do you understand?' Which I was far too timid to do."
"So I perched on the corner of the bed and let him do it, and he did it for like one second, and then didn't ask how I liked it or anything. So I realized it was just to see if he could force me to do something inappropriate," Davis adds.
In a separate alleged incident, Davis revealed that she was left feeling "very emotional" and "ashamed" after Murray screamed at her on set while wearing a clown costume.
She said:
"Bill Murray — in a full clown costume, by the way — slams into the trailer with rage coming out of his eyeballs and starts screaming at me and swearing at me, 'Get the f**k out there! What the f**k are you doing? Move! Move!'
"And he got behind me and screamed in my ear, "Move! Move faster! Move it!" And we’re getting to this intersection where there’s hundreds of people watching this, and he keeps it up and keeps it up until he says, 'Stand there,' and points to a mark on the pavement and starts shooting.
"Talking about it actually, it’s still — it’s very emotional for me because I felt so ashamed, you know, for somebody who wants to do things right. You know?"
Davis' accusations against Murray have only added to the mounting claims against the actor.
Puck News reported in October that Murray had apparently straddled a female production assistant, before kissing her on the mouth (though they were both wearing face masks as per pandemic safety regulations).
While the actor has since stated that his actions were only meant to be "jestful", the female colleague - who was "much younger" - felt that his behavior was "entirely sexual," and she had been left "horrified."
The movie that was being filmed at the time had to be shut down, with Murray later stating that production was halted due to his own inappropriate behavior. "
I did something I thought was funny and it wasn't taken that way," he stated. "The movie studio wanted to do the right thing so they wanted to check it all out, investigate it and so they stopped the production."
