'General Hospital' star Robyn Bernard found dead aged 64 in 'open field behind a business'

Robyn Bernard, best known for starring in General Hospital, has died aged 64.

The TV star is best remembered for her years-long appearance on the popular soap opera General Hospital, which is about the lives of the citizens in the fictional town of Port Charles in upstate New York.

Bernard played the character Terry Brock (aka Terry O’Connor), the daughter of D.L. Brock (portrayed by David Groh) - one of the show's villains during that period.

She appeared regularly on the show for 145 episodes over six years and was featured in a major murder mystery in which her character was fooled into believing she had murdered a man.

As reported by TMZ, Bernard was found dead in San Jacinto, California, on Tuesday (March 12).

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department disclosed that they found Bernard in an "open field behind a business" while responding to a death investigation call, per PEOPLE.

According to the Riverside County Coroner, the body was identified via fingerprints. Authorities are set to perform an autopsy on her body, though the results of the full toxicology will not be available for several more weeks.

Bernard's cause of death has not yet been determined, the coroner added.

The late actress was born in Gladewater, Texas on May 26, 1959, and started performing from a young age.

She began her Hollywood career with her role in Jean-Jacques Beneix's French film, Diva (1981). She then went on to appear in 1983's Whiz Kids and The Facts of Life in 1984.

While still working at General Hospital, Bernard reunited with Beneix for a small role in his 1986 French romance Betty Blue, which went on to score a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and a BAFTA.

After her days on the TV drama, she featured in a 1992 episode of the French-language version of Maigret as well as the 1997 French film Kings For A Day, which François Velle directed.

Her final on-screen performance was in 2002's Voices From The High School where she took on the role of a psychologist. She later retired from the spotlight and is believed to have lived a quiet life in San Jacinto.

Some fans have taken to social media to express condolences and share memories with the late star, with one user writing: "Remembering Robyn Bernard, with my favorite song she sang on general hospital as Terry Brock, 'you and me against the world' May she rest in peace."

Another person penned: "It’s devastating to hear of the passing of Robyn Bernard who was in General Hospital such sad news sending condolences to her family and friends RIP Robyn Bernard." A third added: "I remember Terry so fondly. And watching WINGS like 'That’s Robyn Bernard’s sister!' RIP."

Bernard is survived by her father Jerry Wayne Bernard and two sisters Crystal and Scarlett.
