Gina Carano has recently hit back at a journalist after being mocked for getting herself fired from The Mandalorian cast.
Two years ago, the 40-year-old actress, best known for her role as Cara Dune in the Disney+ series, made some controversial comments about the political climate at the time, comparing it to that of Nazi Germany. Not only that, but the actress was also receiving backlash for divisive comments she'd made about the 2020 election, gender pronouns, and mask mandates during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Taking to her Instagram in February 2021, Carano's shared post read: "Jews here beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors... even by children. Because history is edited, most people don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews.
"How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?", it added.
Another photo on Carano’s Instagram story featured a person with several masks covering their face and head with the caption: "Meanwhile in California."
Following intense backlash for the posts, Carano later deleted them both and replaced them with a not-so-subtle middle-finger quote that read: "Expecting everyone you encounter to agree with every belief you hold is f****** wild."
Immediately after, the hashtag #FireGinaCarano started trending online, with many calling on the creators at Lucasfilm to get rid of the actress for promoting "anti-Semitism" as well as "alt-right conspiracy theories."
A spokesperson from the production company followed up the controversy with a statement stating that Carano was no longer employed by the business.
"Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable," they said, as per Deadline.

Now, two years on from the initial drama, it seems as though the controversy has been dragged up again just two months before the release of the highly-anticipated third season of The Mandalorian.
In a series of tweets, the disgraced actress hit back at a journalist, Richard Newby, who tweeted that "she didn't just fumble the bag, she dumped it out, put it over her head and cut off her air supply" when replying to another tweet about Carano's latest movie reportedly making only $804.
"Here is a contributor of @THR who repeatedly joins in an online mob of mostly anonymous accounts harassing me," she wrote in a four-part tweet series. "Are you aware that we released Terror on the Prairie exclusively on the @realDailyWire & you didn’t know that? Or are ignorance & spreading hate your only purpose here?"
The 40-year-old continued: "I didn’t fumble the bag I just didn’t go along with the sell out narrative, the online mob couldn’t handle that so they petitioned to have me fired & won. I’m not sorry for that. I stood for what I believe the right thing to do was & the more time that goes by the better I feel."
The Haywire star also referred to Newby as a "sell out" adding that she means those who "sold out America and stopped asking questions to be liked by a fickle manipulated mob."
She concluded the post by releasing a screenshot showing that she had been blocked by the journalist.

The news comes after it was announced that all the other actors in the popular Disney+ show including Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, and Katee Sackhoff would be reprising their roles for the third instalment. Due to the pandemic, filming was put on hold which meant that fans were left waiting much longer for this upcoming season.
Season three of The Mandalorian is set to hit our screens on March 1.
