Harry Styles has announced that he'll be donating over $1 million to the largest gun violence prevention organization in the US.

The music star has joined forces with Live Nation to make an enormous contribution to the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund. His donation comes less than a week after a horrifying school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, which left 19 children and two teachers dead.

In a post on Instagram, Style announced that he had been "devastated" by recent episodes of gun violence.

"Along with all of you, I have been absolutely devastated by the recent string of mass shootings in America, culminating at Robb Elementary School in Texas," he wrote.

The ex-One Direction singer went on to announce that he was partnering with Everytown on his upcoming tour, writing: "On our North American tour, we will be partnering with Everytown who work to end gun violence, donating to support their efforts, and sharing their suggested action items."

He shared the message to Instagram with a simple caption: "End gun violence."

Concert producer Live Nation will be matching the proceeds from the Love On Tour, and they estimate that they will make over $1 million to donate to gun violence prevention.

According to Rolling Stones, all 42 dates of the tour are already sold out. This includes two fifteen-night residencies at Madison Square Garden in New York City and at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Per Pollstar, it has already become the highest-selling tour of the year.

Meanwhile, the devastating Uvalde attack that took place last Tuesday was the 214th mass shooting in the U.S. this year. An 18-year-old gunman stormed Robb Elementary School and barricaded himself in a classroom before open firing on the students and teachers.

Styles isn't the first celebrity to express their horror over the attack. Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey - who is originally from Uvalde - has returned to the town in the wake of the attack to help the community "heal".

In a lengthy Twitter post, he spoke about the need for all Americans to create a "safer nation."
