Helen Mirren has hit back at those who try and put her into a box because she's an "older woman."

On Wednesday (March 8), the 77-year-old actress appeared on an episode of Lorraine in the UK where she slammed the stereotypes surrounding women aging.

"You’re not supposed to have longer hair after a certain age," she told the host. "But during Covid, I started growing my hair and I hadn’t actually had long hair since I was in my 20s. And it sort of grew and grew and grew, and I couldn’t be bothered to cut it, basically."

She continued, describing the move as "radical": "I thought, do you know what, it’s pretty cool, I think I’ll stick with it for a little while. It will come off eventually.

"But I’m kind of enjoying it, it’s quite radical."

The Woman In Gold star has been showing off her long locks during promotions of her latest film, Shazam! Fury of the Gods where she plays the role of the villain, Hespera.

Elsewhere in the interview, Mirren also discussed how it feels to be a representative for women over 60, not just in her industry, but beyond it too.

"Life doesn't stop. And creativity doesn't stop and passion doesn't stop and energy doesn't stop unless you decide to stop it.

"So it's just be self-motivated, really, and never give up. And find enjoyment, if it's possible in your life."

And her positive attitude seems to be resonating with other women too.

In a new interview with Harper's Bazaar, former Pirates of the Caribbean star Keira Knightley stated that she would prefer to have an attitude towards agism like Mirren's.

"A lot of the conversations I’ll have with my girlfriends are, 'Oh my God, I’ve got a line [wrinkle]. Oh God!'", she says speaking of how beauty standards are used to contain women. "Change is always tricky. We’re taught that it’s bad. We’re taught that we don’t want grey hair. I love that you’ve got grey hair."

"You’ve got Madonna on the one hand – and we’re told that’s not the right thing. Then you have someone else, where we’re told, 'They looked better 20 years ago'. How are we, culturally, meant to age?"

She goes on to cite Mirren as a "terribly good" example.

"She ages in the most sensational manner. She’s fabulous in every way. You look at her and think, 'God, you’re having so much fun. You’re enjoying life so much.'"

Mirren herself has been pretty vocal about this whole aging debacle, so much so that she has rejected the term "anti-aging."

Speaking to Grazia in 2019, she said: "It’s extremely annoying to women of my generation and others following mine to have beauty products sold on a 15-year-old face."

She also added she doesn’t like using the term "beauty" because it makes people who are insecure about their looks feel "immediately excluded."

"They’ll think, 'Well, I’m not very beautiful. It’s all very well for all these beautiful women, but I don’t feel beautiful,'" she explained to the outlet.

"I don’t want to exclude these people from feeling fabulous about themselves," she said.

Aging is not something to be ashamed of, it's a natural process and it's great that we have examples like Knightley and Mirren to look towards for that extra boost of confidence.

Helen Mirren has been praised for showing off her long grey hair while making an appearance at an international film festival.

On Sunday, the 77-year-old actress dazzled audiences as she posed for photographs at the Ora! Film Festival in Monopoli, Italy.

Mirren was snapped wearing a glitzy, hot pink gown with mirror sequins and a matching headband, keeping her grey locks in place over her shoulders.

The star paired the look with a pair of silver, bejeweled flats, and matching hooped earrings.

Fans took to social media to compliment the movie veteran on her look.

"Helen Mirren looks incredible in a glamorous pink dress at the Ora! Film Festival in Italy," wrote one user while another described her as a "queen."

Over on Facebook, there was also a similar response to Mirren's look.

"I wasn’t sure her long hair suited her but actually it looks absolutely gorgeous... she always looks fabulous," this user commented.

"I’m loving the long hair. It looks great!", another added.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Cher, the epitome of ageless beauty, revealed her secrets to maintaining a youthful look as she nears the age of 80.

The iconic singer and actress spoke to hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls and made a surprising revelation: she would never cut her hair short or stop wearing jeans.

The remark intrigued Reid, who recently debuted her shorter hairstyle at the age of 52.

Cher elaborated: "I remember when my friend Paulette and I were talking about when we were going to cut our hair and stop wearing jeans. I can't believe I will be 80 at some point, sooner than I wish. And I will still be wearing my jeans and I will still be wearing long hair."

"Genes in my family are pretty amazing," the 'Believe' singer added. Cher also discussed how her views on aging are not just skin deep.

"I'm not trying to feel young, I'm not trying to be young, I am what I am, whatever that means," she mused. This perspective likely resonates with both young and old fans alike, bridging generational gaps.

Host Reid took this "hair debate" to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. Sharing a before-and-after snap of her shorter hair, she questioned her followers, "Cher told me this morning, women should keep it LONG as they grow older. What do YOU think?"

The singing sensation wasn't just on Good Morning Britain to talk beauty and aging; she also recounted her 2020 mission to rescue Kavaan, known as the World's Loneliest Elephant.

"When I first saw him, you saw him do the swaying thing, which means an elephant is in distress or having a breakdown," Cher said. Her efforts resulted in Kavaan experiencing improved behavior and surroundings, to which she said was "so amazing."

Following her recent split from her 37-year-old boyfriend Alexander 'A.E.' Edwards, Cher took to Twitter to write: "Ok, Will Someone PLEASE Tell me…..When Will I Feel OLD. This is ridiculous. I keep hearing these numbers, but I Honestly can’t understand them. 'WHATS THE DEAL WITH #’s!? I’m dyslexic & #’s Are hard 4 me. Thank u for staying, I know it’s been hard. Got to go work out. Twitter is harder for me than TweetBot."

Rumors are buzzing about a possible reunion, as a source explained to the Daily Mail, "Cher is mercurial. She actually really cares about A.E."

Cher, who has been twice divorced, has a well-known history of dating younger men, including Tom Cruise and Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora. She has two sons, Chaz Bono with late ex-husband Sonny Bono, and Elijah Blue Allman with late ex-husband Gregg Allman.

The 48-year-old New York-born rapper recently spoke to Men's Health about his fixation with the iconic actor, who he claims will stay "sexy forever".

“She’s sexy. She’ll look at you and you go ‘Oh s**t.’ I don’t care how old she get. I don’t give a f**k what nobody says. She’s sexy.”

Fiddy, real name Curtis Jackson, first encountered Mirren at the Monte Carlo Television Festival in 2017, where the Academy Award winning actor was accompanied by her husband, the acclaimed director Taylor Hackford.

“Her husband is just right there with her, and he just go, like ‘Ah yeah, that’s just what she does.’ But he notices what you notice. That she’s sexy. It’s her confidence — it’s everything she is for all of these years. She’s gonna be sexy forever.”

We know what you're thinking and, currently, we are not sure whether or not this interview set the world record for the number of times the word sexy has been used. But if 50 hasn't achieved the record, he cannot be far off.

The In Da Club rapper's recent comments about Mirren are not the first time he has opened up about his admiration for the 78-year-old icon. During a 2018 appearance on Conan O'Brien, the Grammy and Emmy winner expressed how, you guessed it, sexy Mirren was.

“I just saw her in the south of France … she just looked at me and there was this interesting thing going on in her eyes. There is this confidence thing there from being tested and proven. She looks at you like she knows she’s sexy.”

O'Brien jokingly asked 50 if he would shoot his shot with Mirren if Hackford wasn't around any more, to which the rapper replied, “As long as he’s alive I wouldn’t say yes … it’s not right. I don’t want anyone waiting on me to get knocked off.”

In the past, 50 has been romantically linked with the likes of Meagan Good, Joy Bryant, Ciara and even Chelsea Handler. For the last four years, however, he has been in a relationship with model Jamira Haines, who also goes by the name Cuban Link (not to be confused with Cuban American rapper Felix Delgado, who also goes by the same stage name).

Mirren, meanwhile, has been married to An Officer And A Gentleman director Hackford since 1997. The couple had been together for almost a decade before that, having initially met during the audition process for White Nights, which Hackford made Mirren wait forever for before she could read for the part of Galina Ivanova. Mirren is Hackford's third wife, although she has only ever been married to the director. The legendary actor did date Liam Neeson for five years between 1980 and 1985.

But given that anything can happen in Hollywood, and with all respect to Haines and Hackford, can we all manifest a coupling of 50 and Dame Helen, please? Which then spins off into a reality show? Please and thank you.

Salma Hayek has once again left people in awe with her timeless beauty on the red carpet as some have described the actress as someone who "never ages".

Hayek is no stranger to compliments, and let's be honest, they're fully deserved.

Well, she's at it again, as she made a stunning appearance on the red carpet for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala, and fans were quick to note that the 57-year-old actress doesn't appear to have aged in 30 years.

The actress uploaded a series of playful images to her Instagram, including a video that gave us a behind-the-scenes snippet of how she maintains her hair during events such as these.

The reaction was extremely positive, with one fan writing: "Damn girl you never age so beautiful."

A second penned: "How is she still the finest woman on Earth, 30 [years] after been given that crown."

A third said: "Is this woman serious. How does she still look like this," while a fourth concluded: "At the age of 57," followed by a heart and clapping emoji.

Hayek delved into the secrets behind her timeless beauty during a candid conversation on Kelly Ripa's podcast, Let's Talk Off Camera.

Dismissing any speculation about Botox, she revealed that meditation plays a pivotal role in maintaining her youthful appearance.

"Because of a lot of things in my body and health issues, somehow I developed this strange meditation that I keep evolving," Hayek explained. "I can do it for hours because I don’t feel the time, and it’s so much fun."

She elaborated on the experience, stating: "It’s actually feeling the energy. It moves and it dances inside of you, different feelings and sensations. So I do a lot of the frequency machines."

Emphasizing the necessity of her meditation routine, Hayek said: "Sometimes when I’m doing it, people tell me when I come out of the room, oh my god. Again, you look 20."

She added that she has to maintain this practice for life, cautioning that if she stops: "the face starts to drop and everything starts to drop."

Addressing the challenges she faced in the industry, the actress revealed her struggle against being typecast into "sexy" roles.

"I couldn’t land a role until I met Adam Sandler, who put me in a comedy [2010’s Grown Ups], but I was in my forties," she said.

"They said, 'You’re sexy, so you’re not allowed to have a sense of humor.' Not only are you not allowed to be smart, but you were not allowed to be funny in the 90s," Hayek continued.

Reflecting on her journey, she shared with GQ: "I was sad at the time, but now here I am doing every genre, in a time in my life where they told me I would have expired - that the last 20 years I would have been out of business. So I’m not sad, I’m not angry; I’m laughing."
