Hilary Duff has been forced to take to social media to shut down "disgusting" sex trafficking rumors involving her son.

This comes just months after the actress blasted a "creepy" photographer on social media for taking pictures of her two children, seven-year-old son Luca and one-year-old daughter Banks, without her consent.

Watch the uncomfortable exchange below:

The controversy that led to the claims of trafficking were sparked after Duff posted a now-deleted Instagram post showing her eight-year-old son lying down nude, which prompted the issue to begin trending on Twitter on Saturday morning.

"Someone pointed out on Instagram that I did a nude of him, which I did, so we covered that up with [a] sticker," she said, acknowledging that she had posted a nude of her son to social media.

However, while the 32-year-old actress presumably intended for the video to be nothing more than a cute insight into her family life, others interpreted it as a sign that something more sinister was going on.

Per News.com.au, one comment on the now-deleted video read: "The fact that ppl are saying theres [sic] nothing wrong with the picture is a reason why celebs will never get caught trafficking their kids."

Another added: "I have photos of my kids 'first baths' and all that on my PRIVATE friends and fam only Facebook. And all anyone sees is a little bit of the top of a butt crack. BUT THATS [sic] NOT A BABY it's and [an] entire child. After about 18 months, nah cut it out."

The allegations became so plentiful that Duff even started trending on Twitter.

Duff has since replied to the criticism on Twitter, writing to her 4.7 million followers: "Everyone bored af right now I kno … but this is actually disgusting. Whoever dreamed this one up and put this garbage into the universe should take a break from their damn phone. Maybe get a hobby."

Fortunately, there were many who are standing by Duff, tweeting their own support for the former Disney star:

Last month, Duff also hit the headlines after she slammed "millennial a**holes" who are still partying instead of self-isolating.
