Much to everyone's surprise, Adam Sandler was turned away from an IHOP restaurant after an oblivious worker didn't realize who he was.

A TikTok video showing the awkward moment has since gone viral on social media, racking up more than 10 million views.

IHOP employee Dayanna Rodas realized her mistake after turning him away and telling him to "pleaseee come back" later.

The actor visited one of the eateries with his daughter in the hope of grabbing a quick meal, but he was forced to leave after being told the wait was longer than usual.

Using security camera footage in her TikTok clip, Rodas was left red-faced after she realized who the man behind the face mask was.

Sharing the video online, she wrote: "Not realizing it's Adam Sandler and telling him its a 30min wait and him [of course] leaving [because] hes not going to wait 30mins for IHOP."

The video started with shots of the IHOP worker using a clown make-up filter, before cutting to a security camera shot of Sandler and his daughter interacting with Dayanna briefly before politely leaving.

The video became an instant hit online, as fans of the actor rushed to praise his laid-back and non-Hollywood reaction to not being recognised.

"I used to serve him regularly," one TikTok user said. "Never served a nicer person."

Another wrote: "The fact he could have said 'I'm Adam Sandler' and didn't is amazing. Most celebrities would use their status to get them places."

While a third added: "Instead of pulling the I’m famous and I get what I want card he just left love to see it."

Rodas later told New York Post that she was clued in only when another worker recognized the comedian after he left.

She said: "It wasn’t until a customer walked in about 15 minutes later saying, 'Adam Sandler was outside,' when I realized I spoke to Adam Sandler!"

Despite boasting an estimated net worth of $420 million, Sandler opted for a casual outfit consisting of a red sweatshirt hoodie, basketball shorts, and a pair of sneakers.

Rodas also took to TikTok on Tuesday, sharing a screen grab from her video, adding, "I didn't think it was gonna go viral."

Sandler's publicist confirmed to The Huffington Post that it was Sandler in the video, but did not provide any further details.
