A British influencer has called out his followers who shamed him after he released an image showing him kissing his baby son on the lips.

Aaron Chalmers, 35, first found fame on the British reality TV show Geordie Shore before taking to the octagon to begin a career as an MMA fighter.

Chalmers welcomed his third child, Oakley, in August 2022 with his then-partner Talia Outway. The couple already shared two-year-old Romeo and 18-month Maddox, alongside Oatway's nine-year-old daughter Siennah from a previous relationship, as per the Sun.

Chalmers uploaded an image of himself holding Romeo when he was a newborn and kissing him on the lips - for which he received backlash in the comments.

The reality star has hit back at the online trolls in a recent appearance on The Steven Sulley Study Podcast where he had some choice words for those that shamed him.

"There must be some sad people, sad, sad people, that must have such sad lives to want to go on social media and abuse," Chalmers said.

"You must be sad. Like, you must have a sad life. You must have nothing else in your life than to try and bring others down. Because to me, why?

"I had a picture of my newborn, my newborn baby, and I was kissing him. He’s my f***ing son, I made him, he’s mine. [People said] ‘You shouldn’t be kissing the baby on the lips' and I thought ‘ah, f*** off man.'"

Comments supported the star with one person saying: "Very well said. There’s nothing more precious than a parents love for their child. Trolls need to do one and get a grip while their [sic] at it!!!"

A second person added: "Amen! I still kiss my mum on the lips. She is 60 and I’m 32," with another adding: "100% agree @aaroncgshore mate people are absolutely toxic sometimes. Bitterness is all it comes down to."

However, some comments indicated that it wasn't the notion of a father kissing his son that caused issues, but that kissing a baby on the lips can bring health risks.

Pediatrics East states: "In order to prevent serious health issues, anyone and everyone, including parents, should avoid kissing babies. Due to the rise in cases of RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus) and other illnesses, it’s extremely important for all individuals to be aware of the dangers of kissing babies."

There are also other risks including if the adult kissing the baby has a cold sore, which can cause neonatal herpes and make the child seriously ill due to their underdeveloped immune systems, or simply causing an allergic reaction from chapstick or moisturizer.

That being said, in the original Instagram post Chalmers made it clear he wasn't kissing his son directly on the lips but was kissing his cheek instead.
