Sisters Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears appeared to have a close bond throughout their respective childhoods and the former's astronomical rise to fame.

In the midst of Britney's 13-year conservatorship, however, this has seemingly crumbled, with the pop star having recently lashed out at her sister.

Last week, after calling out Jamie Lynn on Instagram for showing up at an awards show and performing "MY SONGS to remixes", the former child star seemingly responded by captioning a social media post with: "May the peace of the Lord be with you, and your spirit."

Britney retaliated with a video of herself dancing to Billie Eilish's 'Bad Guy', under which she wrote: "May the Lord wrap your mean a** up in joy today."

Previously, during her explosive June 24th testimony, the 'Toxic' singer asserted that "my whole family did nothing" and that she would "honestly" like to sue them.

In light of this scathing rebuke, we take a look back at the two sisters' relationship throughout the years.

2002 — Jamie Lynn's childhood, and the sisters' close bond

Despite their ten-year age difference, Britney shared a close bond with her younger sibling, Jamie Lynn – who appeared to be following in her famous sister's footsteps. In 2002, she even portrayed the younger version of the singer's character, Lucy, in the film Crossroads, and at the premiere, she was at her side.

Speaking about her relationship with Jamie Lynn at the time, Britney told Real Access: "I love my little sister and I am overprotective with her, and I don’t mind saying that. My sister is a handful. We are so different. It’s so funny — actually, she would be a lot better in this business than I am. Like her personality, she is Miss Diva. She is so full of herself, it’s so cute."

"Truthfully, my childhood was so fun. Everything was new and everything was like Christmas because we were just from this small town and my sister had amazing success," Jamie Lynn commented on her childhood in an interview with WFAA in 2016.

"It was so amazing to see my sister reach such heights. I think that with all that good, you don't expect the negative side. And I think, for me, it was just that I couldn't believe people can ever be so negative."

2007 — Jamie Lynn's pregnancy, and two young mothers

When news of a teenage Jamie Lynn's pregnancy broke in 2007, a media frenzy quickly ensued. The Zooey 101 actress gave birth to her daughter, Maddie, in June of 2008 — whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.

Commenting on her younger sister's pregnancy, Britney tod OK! Magazine in 2008: "That was special, but it was also strange because she's always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby.

"It was mind-boggling. I was shocked a little bit. But it was really cool, and she was happy. When she got to the hospital, we all thought it was going to be an all-day thing, and instead, the baby just sort of popped out. 'OK, we're happy now!'"

Jamie Lynn's daughter Maddie reportedly started to share a close relationship with Britney's children, Sean Preston and Jayden James. As she told Glamour in 2021: "For now, Maddie's biggest concern in life is when she gets to see her cousins next. She's always asking, 'Why can't we have Preston and JJ here?' They're very close. They're like brothers and sister. They're so stinking cute."

"And Maddie loves her Aunt Britney's songs," the mother added. "She just loves the whole dress-up thing that goes with it. She loves dancing and singing and all of that. I definitely think music is in her genes."

2013 — The sisters work together on 'Britney Jean'

Britney invited Jamie Lynn on board for the duet 'Chillin' with You' on her 2013 album Britney Jean.

"I think working with family is fun, especially when you can collaborate in a creative way. So of course, I say no to nothing," Jamie Lynn told Fox News at the time. "I appreciate her music and she appreciates mine. That's the really cool thing about music. Good music is good music and that's whenever it crosses genres."

2016 — Britney supports Jamie Lynn's country star dreams

In 2016, Britney traveled to Nashville along with her brother, Bryan, to surprise Jamie Lynn during her performance at the Grand Ole Opry.

"Thanks to the Opry for letting me introduce this beautiful young lady who is my heart and my soul," the Toxic singer said when introducing the aspiring country star. "Not only is she beautiful and extremely talented, but she’s my little sister: Jamie Lynn Spears!"

Through tears, Jamie Lynn responded, "I can’t believe my whole family kept this secret from me. I’m so honored to be at the Opry, but I’m even more honored to be here with all the people that I love the most."

Earlier that day, Britney took to Twitter to show her support: "So proud of our baby sister," Britney captioned a photo of her and older brother Bryan.

2017 — Jamie Lynn returns the favor

The following year, Jamie Lynn presented her big sister with the first-ever Icon Award at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards. She also joined Kelsea Ballerini, Sofia Carson and Hailee Steinfeld, who performed a rendition of 'Till the World Ends'.

2019 — Jamie Lynn breaks her silence on Britney's mental health

Following their father's health scare in 2018, which resulted in Britney canceling her second Las Vegas residency, and checking into a mental health facility, Jamie Lynn called out the media for continually harassing her sister.

"[Ten] years ago, who was there?? I have been here long before anyone else, and I'll be here long after," Jamie Lynn captioned an April 2019 social media video of herself yelling at the paparazzi, 10 years prior.

"I love my sister with everything I have. So, anyone or anything that speaks to the contrary can GTFOH with all the comments about what you don't understand. Do not come for me or the ones I love anymore. You can move the 'blank' outta here with all that, just like this other lady who was running her mouth."

Then, in May — when a judge ordered an expert evaluation of Britney's conservatorship — she took to Instagram once more to post a photo of the pop star.

When one individual responded, saying, "Fear of losing your allowance, I see", Jamie Lynn hit back: "Haha nice try, but I have NEVER been paid a dime from my sister, that is HER hard-earned money, and I am NOT entitled to a cent of it. I would not spend money I did not earn."

She has since deleted this comment.

2020 — Britney spends time in Louisiana amid the Covid-19 pandemic

In May of 2020, Jamie Lynn told Entertainment Tonight that Britney spent some time in Louisana in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Britney was like, 'I want to come home, I don't want to be by myself out here,' because all of her family's pretty much here. So she was able to come home for almost two weeks or so. She was here for my birthday and for [my daughter] Ivey's birthday," she told the publication.

"We're all just trying to abide by the rules and do what we're supposed to do. Having our family has been the biggest blessing, too. I mean, we're driving each other absolutely insane, about things you wouldn't normally get mad about, but at the end of the day, at least we have each other, you know? That's been really fortunate."

2020 — Jamie Lynn praises Britney for giving her the confidence to say 'no'

When she returned to acting via Netflix's Sweet Magnolias, the 30-year-old credited her sister with giving her the courage to "say no".

"Britney was always really open and honest with me about the good and the bad that comes with this industry," she explained to The Hollywood Reporter in May of 2020. "And that's what gave me the confidence to say no sometimes. If I hadn't had someone like Britney to warn me, I probably wouldn't have had that confidence to say, 'No, I've seen this. I know where this goes.'

"I was so lucky, because I had someone who's walked the road, and she's walked it so successfully [...] Without Britney, I probably would've made a lot of different decisions. I probably wouldn't have valued my personal time, wanting to just be a kid, and I might have said yes to projects I didn't actually want to do."

2021 — Britney eviscerates her family in bombshell expose

On June 24th, Britney spoke publicly about her conservatorship in a damning 24-minute statement made in court. In it, she took aim at her immediate family.

"Not only did my family not do a goddamn thing, my dad was all for it. Anything that happened to me had to be approved by my dad...He was the one who approved all of it. My whole family did nothing," she said.

"I would honestly like to sue my family, to be totally honest with you. I also would like to be able to share my story with the world, and what they did to me, instead of it being a hush-hush secret to benefit all of them … I’m told I’m not allowed to expose the people who did this to me."

In response, Jamie Lynn wrote on Instagram: "I’m not my family. I’m my own person. I’m speaking for myself. I’m so proud of her for using her voice. I’m so proud of her for requesting new council like I told her to do many years ago.

"If ending the conservatorship or flying to Mars or whatever else she wants to do [will make her happy] — I support that, 100 per cent. Because I support my sister. I love my sister. Always have, always will. As long as she’s happy. Let’s keep praying. That’s all."

2021 — Britney seemingly snaps back at her sister

Days later, on July 17th, Britney seemingly shut down Jamie Lynn's claims via an Instagram post, which read: "How dare the people you love the most say anything at all — did they even put a hand out to lift me up at the TIME!!!???" she wrote. "How dare you make it public that NOW you CARE — did you put your hand out when I was drowning??? Again, NO."

Another post asserted: "I don’t like that my sister showed up at an awards show and performed MY SONGS to remixes," the star wrote in the lengthy caption. "My so-called support system hurt me deeply. This conservatorship killed my dreams."
