Jemeela Jamil has called for two hours a day when only women are allowed outside, adding that women's safety is "threatened by another gender".

Jamil, 37, is a British actress known for her appearances in The Good Place and She-Hulk and has often been outspoken when campaigning for equity.

The actress has taken to Instagram to post her thoughts on women's safety as she poses a new idea that she believes will make women feel more comfortable outside of their homes.

In the post which features only text, the star begins: "It would be so cool if there were some hours in which only women were allowed to be outside."

Jamil continued: "Just 2 hours. I would walk every single day, if I wasn't so afraid of men, not all men, but too many men to discount the chances you will be attacked."

The actress added that the pressure isn't on men to not attack women, but instead, the focus is on women finding ways to avoid being the victim.

"I really really resent that our safety is SO threatened by another gender," Jamil added while saying that being able to go for a walk or a run without being concerned about her safety would be good for her mental health.

The actress doubled down in the caption where she further clarified her comments after pre-calling out those who she knew would be offended by her post.

"I know this is going to anger the exact kind of men who do nothing at all to help curb the culture of men's violence against women," Jamil penned.

She continued: "As a woman, can you even IMAGINE just going for a walk when you're stressed, god forbid, in the EVENING after dinner? Can you imagine walking your dog around the block and not feeling like prey?"

Jamil went on to dream of scenarios where she doesn't have to second guess her outfits and question whether they are "too revealing" before leaving the house.

"It's not good for our brains to be faced with two options... stay inside and curb your mental well-being, or roll the dice on your life," she continued.

Jamil concluded: "I want my freedom. And yes, other women are more oppressed than not being able to safely leave the house at night in some countries. But bloody hell... the bar shouldn't be in actual hell. Basic freedoms for all."

People flocked to the comments to add their thoughts, with one woman commenting: "I wish I could jog under the moonlight and be fully safe. What a world that will never exist."

A second added: "The jealousy I feel seeing men going for walks/runs alone at night. I almost can’t fathom a world where that’s possible for women."
