Jamie Foxx's family has revealed the actor was hospitalized after suffering a "medical complication" this week

His daughter Corinne Foxx shared the news with fans on Instagram on Wednesday evening, telling them that the family was grateful for the thoughts and prayers on his behalf.

The family has not disclosed what caused the 55-year-old's medical complication, but revealed he was doing well in hospital.

Corrine wrote: "We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday [Tuesday]."

"Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time."

TMZ further added that the actor had since become able to communicate with his loved ones, with an insider telling the publication: "He's communicating now, and that's good news."

They also claimed that the star's medical emergency was "serious enough" that family members who were not in town flocked to be by his side.

Corrine, 29, is Jamie's daughter with ex-girlfriend Connie Kline and he also has a 13-year-old daughter Annalise, whom he shares with Kristin Grannis.

Jamie had been filming his latest movie Back In Action in Atlanta, Georgia, alongside Cameron Diaz as recently as Monday, according to reports.

There has been no further update as yet on when he will be released from hospital or able to go back to work.

Back In Atlanta marks Cameron Diaz's return to acting and Jamie was instrumental in helping to convince her to sign up for the role.

Few details are yet known about the project, which also stars Glenn Close, however, photos from the set on Monday appeared to show Jamie coaching a women's soccer team, and he and Cameron were seeing the UK last month filming action scenes in a snowy forest.

According to reports, the production has been hit with a series of issues - including having to be paused temporarily in March.

The hiatus came after an unexploded WWII-era bomb was discovered on the set in London, where two major action scenes were due to be filmed.

It was also reported that "multiple people" were fired by Foxx, according to The Sun, including an executive producer, two directors, and his driver.

One staffer was allegedly fired in relation to a reported scam to access £33,000 in cash from the actor in relation to the sale of a Rolex watch.
