Last night's Golden Globes has plenty of memorable moments that we're going to be talking about and YouTubing for years to come.

Tom Hanks was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, Ricky Gervais' opening monologue was his most savage one yet, and Joaquin Phoenix's incredible performance in Joker was recognized with the Best Actor in a Film (Drama) award.

But perhaps the greatest moment for anybody still living in the year 2000 was the when Brad Pitt, 55, delivered his acceptance speech after winning the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

As Pitt joked and thanked those closest to him, ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, 55, could be seen looking on with a coy smile.

And, naturally, Twitter users exploded after noticing Aniston looking on at her former beau, with many wondering if there was a chance the pair could be getting back together in 2020:

User @lucyontheg tweeted out: "Jennifer Aniston laughed at Brad Pitt’s Titanic joke, she smiled when he talked about his parents, her former in-laws and smiled multiple times. 2020 and I’m sitting here still believing there’s a chance".

Another user tweeted: "Can Brad and Jen just get back together already!? The way she looks at him and him stating on stage that he’s not dating anyone says it all. My heart just exploded..."

Prior to the event kicking off, Entertainment Tonight host Kevin Frazier told Pitt that many fans are hoping to see a picture of the former couple together at the show, to which the actor replied: "I'll run into Jen, she's a good friend. Yeah."

Brad and Jennifer first met in 1998, and went public with their relationship on the red carpet of the Emmy Awards in 1999. But after tying the knot in a lavish Malibu wedding the following year, the couple split five years later in 2000 after Pitt started a relationship with his Mr & Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie.

They both provided the below joint statement addressing their breakup:

"We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate. For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another. We ask in advance for your kindness and sensitivity in the coming months."
