Let's have a moment of silence for those people who were hoping to shoot their shot with John Boyega to become the future Mrs. Boyega - the 30-year-old actor has just revealed he's "very disciplined" when choosing potential partners, saying "I only date Black."

It's no secret that the internet has been thirsting over the South London native, who exploded onto the acting scene in 2015's Star Wars flick, The Force Awakens.

In fact, take one look at Twitter and you'll see a range of tweets from fans declaring their undying love for Boyega. Like this person, who wrote: "i would honestly let john boyega absolutely destroy me he just keeps getting more attractive ??¿"

However, in a recent interview with GQ UK about his multiple upcoming films, it seems fans were only focused on one thing and one thing only - Boyega only dates Black women.

Speaking to the men's magazine, who asked him about whether he felt pressure to settle down now that he's 30, Boyega revealed he has rules about who he dates. In fact, the British heartthrob said: "I only date Black," before adding: "Then it's about chemistry, personality, goals. Is there a synergy? Can I help you? Can you help me?"

"I'm very disciplined in the type of women I speak to. They don't want you in their business," he continued, before saying that his parents' 35-year marriage served as an inspiration for him. "There's nothing that this world can do in terms of pressure to make me be inspired by anything else but my parents," he said.

Naturally, Twitter went into meltdown, with the actor's words causing some controversy among several users. In a now-deleted Tweet, an account called Ryan's UFC page wrote: "I'm sorry John Boyega but if a white celebrity turned around and said he only dates white girls he'd be called racist, but it's okay for a Black celebrity to say he only dates Black people [sic]."

Boyega posted a response before the Tweet was taken down, commenting: "When they talk about [preferring] brunettes or blondes they're not talking about a wig. My preference is not a topic for debate."

Other users commended Boyega on his words, with one user tweeting: "Why folks so bothered that John Boyega prefers Black women? I never see this same energy towards other races who prefer the people who look like them romantically. Like damn… Black men can't ONLY want Black women? Like… why does that ruffle folks feathers? Lol."

Aside from his dating life the actor, who is of Yoruba heritage, spoke about his upcoming roles - namely, the movies The Woman King and Breaking. The latter, currently in cinemas, is a gritty portrayal of the harsh realities US Army Veterans face when leaving service.

The Woman King stars Boyega alongside Viola Davis, Lashana Lynch, and a range of other insanely talented Black actors. The movie depicts the Agojie, an all-female military regiment who protected the West African kingdom of Dahomey (present-day Benin) from the 1600s - 1900s. The flick has already received rave reviews, getting a fantastic 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is set for release on September 16.

As for Boyega's dating life - because evidently this is of utmost importance according to the internet - let's just say a lot of hearts are about to be broken.
