The trailer for the movie adaptation of the highly-publicized trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has dropped, less than four months after the verdict ruling.

Viewers will be able to relive the controversial case between the 59-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor and 36-year-old Aquaman actress in the forthcoming flick: Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial.

The synopsis for the Tubi original says it's "based on the controversial defamation trial that shook the world" and stars Parallels actor Mark Hapka as Depp and Alone in the Dark actress Megan Davis as Heard.

The trailer displays the retelling of the trial's biggest moments in the Fairfax, Virginia courtroom, as well as some dramatized scenes of the former Hollywood couple when they were alone.

Since the trailer dropped on Youtube on September 28, many users on the social media platform shared their opinions on the upcoming movie, with many expressing their disinterest.

One user said: "The only hot take here is the fact I'd rather re-watch six weeks of free, raw court footage than any money-milking, dramatized college project."

Another wrote: "The movie nobody thought they needed and... they'd be right."

A third user commented: "C'mon, we have all just seen the original less than 6 months ago, who needs a remake?"

A fourth user joked: "You know... Johnny would have been more than happy to play himself in this one because everyone knows the outcome."

However, a few users praised the casting decision and said the 40-year-old actor who plays the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star sounds exactly like him.

One user wrote: "Say whatever you want about this but that guy nailed Johnny’s voice," while another praised: "I'm amazed how the actor resembles Johnny Depp here at the trial."

In June this year, the court ruled that the Fantastic Beasts actor had won his defamation case against his ex-wife resulting in the actor being awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and a further $5m in punitive damages (later capped at $350,000).

In addition, The Rum Diary actress won one of her three defamation countersuit claims against her former husband and was awarded $2 million.

Heard was originally sued by Depp after her 2018 Washington Post Op-ed where she wrote about her experiences with domestic violence. Despite not naming him, the actor's team argued that the piece was defamatory and ruined his career.

The bombshell trial included testimony on the witness stand from both actors who provided details into their disastrous marriage with both sides accusing each other of abuse.

The Zombieland actress was in the courtroom with her legal team when the result was read out, while Depp was watching from the UK, after flying over to perform at concerts with Jeff Beck.

As well as the main actors, Melissa Marty will star in the movie as the actor's famed lawyer Camille Vasquez and Mary Carrig as the actress' lawyer Elaine Bredehoft.

Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial is scheduled to be released on Friday.
