Johnny Depp has announced that he'll be releasing a new album with his friend Jeff Beck later this summer.

The Hollywood actor has made headlines recently thanks to a high-profile court case against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

After an explosive six-week trial, jurors announced last week that they had sided with Depp in the multi-million dollar defamation case, in which Depp had sought to prove that his ex defamed him by claiming to be a victim of domestic abuse.

Now that his reputation is somewhat restored, many of the actor's fans are hoping that he will return to the silver screen and no longer be boycotted by studios as he claims to have been over the past few years.

However, it looks like Depp has other ideas. Last week, Beck announced during a UK concert in the city of Gateshead that he and Depp would be releasing a new album next month - a collaboration that will mark Depp's first major project since his court case.

"I’m gonna take this opportunity and tell you I met this guy five years ago, and we’ve never stopped laughing since," Beck told audiences, per a report by Stereogum.

"We actually made an album. I don’t know how it happened. It will be out in July," he added, as Depp bowed on stage to the crowd.

Although he is best known for his acting work, Depp is no stranger to making music. In 2015, he formed the band Hollywood Vampires, and during his trial, he described playing guitar as: "The only thing that was really good in my life aside from my children".

Meanwhile, Thursday's concert wasn't the first time Depp has taken to the stage since his trial against Heard concluded.

Over the past week, he's joined Beck for several performances on the UK leg of his tour, playing to audiences in Sheffield and London in the wake of his court case. It's uncertain whether he'll continue to accompany Beck on stage for the rest of his upcoming UK shows, which include scheduled performances in Birmingham, Manchester, and York.
