Johnny Depp has been caught giggling in court again.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star chuckled to himself when a Disney exec was questioned over whether the studio would consider paying Depp "in alpacas" to return to the franchise.

Depp is currently embroiled in a weeks-long defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard, who he is suing for $50 million over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse. The 58-year-old actor maintains that he was the real victim in their turbulent marriage and that Heard's allegations got him fired from big-budget projects.

Heard, meanwhile, is countersuing for $100 million and citing several occasions during their relationship when Depp allegedly assaulted her.

Yesterday (May 19) saw Disney executive Tina Newman take the stand in a pre-recorded deposition. Newman - who works on the Pirates franchise - was quizzed about Depp's future in the movie series by Heard's legal team.

Heard’s lawyer asked: "Do you know whether Mr Depp is being considered for a role in Pirates 6?"

"I don’t know one way or another," Newman replied, adding: "[The] decision does not fall within my job responsibilities. It’s above my pay grade."

The lawyer continued, referencing a statement made by Depp during his testimony last month. "Is Disney aware that Mr Depp has testified under oath that he would not take another Pirates of the Caribbean franchise role for $300 million and a million alpacas?" they asked.

Newman answered: "No."

Heard's lawyer continued to press the exec, asking if Disney would consider "paying Mr Depp more than $300 million and [providing] him with more than a million alpacas to be able to obtain his services for any future Pirates of the Caribbean role?"

Again, Newman responded "No."

Depp clearly found the line of questioning amusing. He and his attorney Camille Vasquez laughed together when the alpacas were mentioned.

This is not the first time Depp has been caught laughing in the courtroom. Throughout the trial, the Edward Scissorhands star has often snickered quietly to himself when his ex-wife's attorneys slip up.
