Justin Bieber has revealed that his facial paralysis is making it hard for him to eat.
Earlier this week, the 28-year-old singer took to Instagram to explain that he has been diagnosed with a rare disorder - Ramsay Hunt syndrome - which has left one side of his face paralyzed.
As a result of the condition, Bieber had no choice but to cancel his upcoming shows, which he apologized for in a video clip.
Now, in a separate post to his Instagram stories, Bieber has given an update on his condition, explaining that it has been getting more difficult for him to eat.
"Been getting progressively harder to eat, which has been extremely frustrating, please pray for me," the young star wrote.
According to Mayo Clinic, Ramsey Hunt syndrome occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears. As well as facial paralysis, it can also cause hearing loss.
In the original clip, Justing broke the news of his diagnosis to his 240 million Instagram followers by demonstrating that he cannot blink his right eye or smile with the side of his mouth.
"It is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear in my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis," he explained, adding: "As you can see, this eye is not blinking. I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move, so there’s full paralysis on this side of my face."
The singer went on to say that, regrettably, he's had to cancel all upcoming shows until he's recovered.
"For those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I'm just physically, obviously, not capable of doing them. This is pretty serious as you can see. I wish this wasn't the case, but obviously my body is telling me that I've got to slow down," he told his fans.
“I hope you guys understand, and I’ll be using this time to just rest and relax and get back to 100% so I can do what I was born to do. But in the meantime, this ain’t it," Bieber added.
The singer said that he wasn't sure exactly how long recovery would take - but that he had faith things would work out okay.
"We don’t know how much time it is going to be but it’s going to be okay, I have hope and I trust God. I trust it is all for a reason. I’m not sure what that is right now but in the meantime I am going to rest," he said.
