Kansas City Chiefs lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy after winning the Super Bowl LVII on the biggest night in the NFL calendar, in what was a thrilling encounter.

The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs went head-to-head at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, both vying for the ultimate prize in football.

Both teams have been in immense form this season both going 16-3 including post-season games, with them also having won the championship in recent history, but this was the first time that the teams had met in a championship game, per CBS Sports.

This was the Chiefs' third Super Bowl appearance in four seasons, last appearing in 2020 and last winning in 2019.

It was also the Eagles' second Super Bowl appearance in six seasons, with them last appearing in 2018 where they took the trophy home.

All eyes were on the quarterbacks, as Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts both sought to be the hero of the occasion.

Mahomes came into the game as the season MVP while also being noted as one of the best quarterbacks currently playing the sport due to being the youngest player to become the Super Bowl MVP in 2019.

This was Mahomes' fifth season as a starter after being drafted in 2017, but having to wait until the following year to get his shot in the spotlight.

Hurts is also relatively fresh in his career and at 24, he is the youngest QB in the Eagles' history to ever advance to the Super Bowl in his third season in the NFL.

Away from the quarterbacks, Jason and Travis Kelce became the first brothers to play in the Super Bowl on opposite sides with their mother stating that she was thrilled but also worried, as neither are good losers.

The Chiefs' won the coin toss but it was the Eagles' who took an early 7-0 lead, with Jalen Hurts scoring the first touchdown (TD) of the game.

Mahomes showed why he is the NFL MVP this season as the Chiefs responded, tying the encounter 7-7 after both teams converted the PAT (point after touchdown), and that is how the first quarter ended.

The second quarter started with the same excitement as the first, as AJ Brown scored a 45-yard TD and the extra point was converted to make it 14-7 to the Eagles.

But again, the Chiefs responded as they capitalized on a fumble to equal the scores at 14 each. Hurts then showed why he is one to watch as he scored his second rushing TD of the night to make it 21-14 to the Eagles before Jake Elliott scored a field goal just before half-time to give the Eagles a 10-point lead.

The Chiefs clearly had a talking-to at halftime as they immediately scored a TD to keep the game a tightly contested encounter, and the third quarter ended 27-21 for the Eagles.

Going into the fourth quarter, the Chiefs once again made it clear that they were going to take the game right down to the wire as they made the score 28-27 in their favor and led the game for the first time.

Kadarius Toney then made the longest punt return in Super Bowl history as he set the Chiefs up in a great position to assert themselves, which Skyy Moore was happy to do as the rookie was found wide open, and suddenly the team from Kansas was 8 points ahead.

The Eagles were on hand to answer back as they scored another TD, and needed to go for the two points to level the tie, which Jalen Hurts achieved as it seemed that both quarterbacks weren't going to settle with leaving the stadium empty-handed.

The Chiefs made the play to attempt to win the game via a field goal as they ran the clock down giving no time to reply. Butker obliged and all but handed the win to Kansas City.

The final whistle blew, and the Chiefs came out on top after what was one of the greatest Super Bowls in history.

Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs!
