Everyone knows that the one and only true rule you should abide by when dressing for a wedding is to NEVER upstage the bride.
This often means no overly out-there designs and certainly no white.
However, one famous family, in particular, is no stranger when it comes to breaking the rules, even at a wedding, and that's the Kardashians.
Having made headlines in the past for her choice of attire, Kim clearly saw no harm in doing it again for her best friend and former assistant Stephanie Shepherd's wedding over the weekend.
The 42-year-old reality TV star attended the nuptials wearing a black cutout, strappy Alaïa dress - which included a bodice consisting of strips of fabric that barely covered her breasts and a second-skin lace-up skirt with a crotch cutout (fortunately she was wearing black underwear underneath).
The original dress was on Alaïa's spring 2023 runway, though that dress featured a completely see-through turtleneck.
Netizens took to social media to comment on the "inappropriate" outfit choice, with one person writing: "Inappropriate wedding attire."
"She looks absolutely ridiculous," another user added.
Someone else said: "This ain't wedding attire."
Though, Kim isn't the only Kardashian who has come under fire for her wedding attire, as 27-year-old Kendall Jenner similarly showed up at a friend's wedding in 2021, wearing an ultra-revealing cut-out black gown by Mônot. That sparked an intense social media firestorm, with users suggesting that it had been an incredibly inappropriate and disrespectful choice for the such an occasion.
At the time, the model defended her dress by clarifying that she asked bride Lauren Perez's approval in advance, with Perez later supporting Jenner by saying she thought she looked "stunning" in the fit, per Page Six.
Alongside Kim, a host of other celebs like Naomi Campbell, Timbaland, La La Anthony, Swizz Beatz and his wife Alicia Keys, Kris Jenner, and Kourtney Kardashian-Barker, who brought along husband Travis Barker. Justin and Hailey Bieber were also in attendance, with the model sporting a risqué backless turtleneck gown in white.
Unfortunately for Bieber, she ended up receiving her fair share of disapproval from the internet, with many people questioning why on Earth she'd wear white to a wedding.
"The only thing I want to know is why [the f**k] you wore white to a WEDDING," one person commented underneath her post on Instagram.
"Wait but she wore this to a wedding…white…to another persons wedding. I mean…." another user added.
Well, I guess the moral of the story is don't break the rules for wedding attire! You've been warned!
