American Horror Story is back for season 12 - but many fans are already horrified with one particular new cast member.
The anthology horror TV series - created by Gwyneth Paltrow's hubby Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy - follows a different set of characters and locations in the same fictional universe each season.
So far the series - which has starred major actors like Emma Roberts, Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett (did the thing), Connie Britton, Lady Gaga, and Sarah Paulson - has been set in a Massachusetts asylum, a witch coven in New Orleans, and even a retro hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
Now, it's been revealed that season 12 - which is titled Delicate - is coming soon, with Kim Kardashian reportedly landing herself a leading role.
The 42-year-old mother-of-four made the announcement via Twitter on Monday (April 10), where she tweeted a short snippet of a creepy lullaby with a text overlay that read hers and Emma Roberts' names.
Murphy released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter about Kardashian's casting, stating: "Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family. Emma [Roberts] and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done."
According to the outlet, Delicate is based on an upcoming novel by Danielle Valentine called Delicate Condition, which is "a gripping thriller that follows a woman convinced a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens - while the men in her life refuse to believe a word she says."
Unfortunately, this all means that American Horror Story is no longer one of the few safe spaces for people who'd rather watch paint dry than consume any form of Kardashian kontent. Many netizens commented on how disappointed they were after hearing the news, with one person writing: "She's irrelevant. Good luck watching your show tank."
"WHY?!?! She is not an actress. It's so frustrating that people work tirelessly to break into the acting industry and then people like Kim Kardashian get roles just handed to them," someone else added.
Another user chimed in: "I've been watching AHS for almost every season but this has convinced me to finally stop. Calling her 'one of the biggest and brightest stars' is about as desperate as a network can get."
