Kim Kardashian has been mercilessly mocked by fans after she took to Instagram to reveal that she has hired a Grammy award-winning pianist to wake her children up in the morning during the lead-up to Christmas.

The mom-of-four, 42, has been in and out of the headlines during the past few weeks after the shock Balenciaga scandal that saw the luxury fashion house criticised for an advert featuring children holding bondage-clad teddy bear bags.

Kim - a serial Balenciaga-wearer - had faced backlash after her statement on the matter did not explicitly reveal that she would cut ties with the brand. Instead, she chose to say she would be "re-evaluating" her partnership with them.

"I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened," she had originally posted on Twitter, having waited several days before writing her response.

Following the controversy, the reality TV star is back to posting on social media like normal again. In fact, she took to her Instagram story to showcase how the other half live - hiring Grammy-winning pianist Philip Cornish to play Christmas songs for her kids in the morning.

"It's that time of year," she captioned a video posted to her Instagram story.

"@Philthekeys comes over every morning to wake my kids up by playing the piano while the mad morning rush is happening to calm their little souls and fill it with beautiful Christmas songs," the video continued, showing the talented musician playing beautifully on the piano while Kim's kids - North, nine, Saint, six, Chicago, four, and three-year-old Psalm - can be heard screaming and yelling in the background.

In a separate video, Psalm can be seen curled up under a blanket on the sofa listening to the festive tunes.

However, this isn't the first time Kim has forked out for the lavish wake-up call, as she first began the tradition around the same time last year. She claims that it helps "calm down" her kids before they head off to school - however, many social media users don't exactly see it that way.

"There's close to 70K homeless in Los Angeles. Kim Kardashian hired a piano player to wake her kids up every morning. Make it make sense [...]," one person tweeted.

Another user pointed out that the SKIMS founder could just play a Christmas playlist instead, writing: "kim kardashian has hired a piano player to play calming christmas music to wake up her children peacefully every morning. the 'now that's what i call christmas' mixtape doesn't even exist in their world."

"Kim Kardashian wakes kids up with live piano, Reason she needs 200k child support," another tweet read, in reference to the recent divorce settlement the star has reached with ex-husband Kanye West. The rapper now is obligated to pay Kim $200,000 a month in child support for their four kids, as previously reported.

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm happy listening to 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' on repeat instead. Who's with me?
