Lady Gaga may have just won the 'Teenage Dirtbag' throwback.

The pop icon decided to take part in the latest Tik Tok trend by reliving her club kid days, when she went by her real name of Stefani Germanotta.

Beginning her video by lip syncing to a sped up version of Wheatus' 2000 smash hit, the 36-year-old multiple time Grammy winner then proceeds to follow the footage with a series of throwback photos from her pre-Gaga days.

The clip, captioned "I had to", is a nostalgia heavy post featuring Gaga in a series of club outfits and without her trademark bleach blonde hair, instead showing off her brunette bangs.

Commenting on her own post, Gaga added "Just Stefani..." referencing her birth name, which she went by before dropping her game changing 2008 debut album The Fame.

And, as if the throwback post wasn't enough, it even generated a seal of approval from Wheatus themselves.

The band commented on the post, "SOS. Lady Gaga shattered us into a million pieces. We will never recover from this. Who knew there was such a thing as too much happy?" followed by a series of crying emojis and love hearts.

The post, shared to Gaga's 7.3 million TikTok followers, has already been viewed more than 6.2 million times, amassing over a million likes in the process, at the time of writing.

The 'Teenage Dirtbag' trend has seen all manner of celebrities getting involved, with the likes of Demi Lovato, Terry Crews, Christina Aguilera, Victoria Beckham and Tony Hawk just a small number of the countless stars jumping on the viral nostalgia bandwagon over the last few weeks.

Crews' post in particular has caught people's attention, with the Brooklyn Nine Nine star hitting over 11 million views and over 2 million likes for his effort.

The tune was a huge hit for Wheatus at the turn of the century, dominating the airwaves during 2000 and shifting over 5 million units worldwide. The video was inspired by the 2000 film 'Loser' starring Jason Biggs and Mean Suvari and was nominated for 'Best Video' at that year's Kerrang! awards.

The pop punk outfit have undergone a number of line up changes over the years, but the classic lineup reunited during a show at the Mercury Lounge in New York in 2019.
