Johnny Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez has reportedly been inundated with offers from law firms following her and her famous client's defamation trial win.
The 37-year-old attorney became somewhat of an internet celebrity for her cutthroat cross-examinations with Amber Heard during the six-week trial in Virginia.
Vasquez and her associates convinced the jury that Heard, 36, defamed Depp, 58, for writing in her 2018 Washington Post op-ed that she was "a public figure representing domestic abuse".
While the Aquaman star didn't specifically name her former husband, the lengthy case drew to a close with the jury in favor of Depp. Agreeing that Heard defamed him, Depp was awarded $10.4 million in damages.
According to The New York Post, the attorney has been getting offers from Hollywood and has also caught the attention of law firms who want her in their corporations.
"Talent agents are circling Camille because they recognize that she is the unicorn — a smart, savvy, poised attorney whose impactful performance during the trial propelled her to a rare level of visibility," a source said. "And the fact that she is a woman of color is an added bonus."
A former network executive familiar with the proposals added: "Camille is inarguably a great voice to weigh in on legal matters and networks are naturally chomping at the bit to speak with her about on-air opportunities."
Vasquez led the plaintiff’s case with attorney Ben Chew and remains an associate at the high-profile law firm Brown Rudnick. Various celebrity lawyers like Judd Burstein say that "she’ll be a partner soon".
"No firm would allow her to have a role in a big trial like this if she wasn’t on the partner track," said Burstein, who represents Nicki Minaj. "There are two factors that go into making a partner, your quality of lawyering and ability to attract business. She can probably go anywhere and make a nice deal for herself."
Another legal source reiterated Burstein's statement and said that firms are "fighting" for Vasquez as she is the highest bidder, adding: "She’s a shark and her performance in the trial showed it."
The Edwards Scissorhands actor will return to court in July after being accused of assault by Gregg Brooks, a crew member on a movie set. Rudnick is representing him in the case.
