Lea Michele has asked her fans to send her two-year-old son Ever "love and strength" after the toddler was admitted to hospital with a "scary health issue".
The Glee star, 36, took to her Instagram story to let her followers know she would not be performing as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl on Broadway on Wednesday after her son fell ill.
She shared a photo of Ever in his hospital bed next to a teddy, as she laid a gentle hand on his arm - which had a hospital band around the wrist - to comfort him.
Lea told her followers: "I'm so sorry but unfortunately I will be out of @funnygirlbwy today. We are at the hospital with our son dealing with a scary health issue that I need to be here for."
The actress added: "I'm so sorry. Please send us some love and strength."
Lea shares Ever with her husband Zandy Reich, who she married in 2019, and he is the couple's only child.
She did not share any further details on why the tot was in the hospital or when she was likely to be able to return to her Broadway role.
Funny Girl's spokespeople also confirmed Lea would not be performing on Wednesday's matinee and evening performances, writing on social media: "Lea Michele will be out of both performances today, Wednesday, March 22. Julie Benko will be your fabulous Fanny!"
Lea had taken on the role of leading lady in September 2022 after Beanie Feldstein left the role months earlier. She had initially been booked for the spring run, which was then extended into autumn.
While she is loving being back on Broadway, taking on an intense work schedule also came with some "mom guilt" for being away from her son.
Lea told E! News: "I definitely had mom guilt, for sure, of leaving him and not being there 24/7. But it was so important for me to show him me doing what I really love."
The performer never shares full photos of her son's face on social media in order to protect his privacy, but often gives her fans a small glimpse at their family life together.
She had previously opened up about her joy at becoming a mother, telling Health: "Oh my gosh, I hope to be a mum of, like, ten kids - if it’s physically possible to pop that many out! I’m so excited about the thought of being a mum."
Lea also praised her husband, adding: "I always had relationships where I needed to be the one holding down the fort, and it’s wonderful to have someone who’s in their own lane and has a foundation for who they are and where they are in their own life.
"We met at the same level personally and professionally. And to go on that journey now together is unbelievable."
Our thoughts are with Lea and her family and we wish Ever a speedy recovery.
