Lisa Kudrow has recently opened up about suffering body image issues during her time on Friends.

While appearing on an episode of the Podcrushed podcast in August, the 59-year-old revealed that she experienced some issues with the way she looked, especially after seeing her co-stars, Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox "in clothes" for the first time.

"I thought I was just really skinny. I can do whatever... especially in high school," Kudrow recalled as per PEOPLE. "And I look at pictures and say, 'Wow, pictures really distort reality,'" she said.

"And it wasn't until Friends that I realized, 'Oh, I don't look like I thought I looked.'"

Kudrow played Phoebe Buffay in the iconic sitcom which ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004 alongside Aniston, who played Rachel Green, and Cox, who played Monica Geller.

"...That's what was so jarring, and that's when it was like, 'Oh, I've got to actually lose weight? I have to diet? Shoot,'" she continued.

When asked about what could have triggered that mindset, she told listeners that it was most likely due to the fact that she was comparing herself to her co-stars.

"It was just seeing myself on the show and seeing myself in clothes and seeing Courteney and Jennifer in clothes.

"And at first I thought, 'Oh, because they know, like, tailoring, so they can discuss it with the costume designer about where, exactly, to take something in," the Easy A star said.

Kudrow then went on to discuss how she had invited a friend to a fitting with her and that's when she made a pretty big realization.

"That's when I would see, 'Oh, okay, it's not just about tailoring…' And I'm not trying to say I was overweight, either. I was not. I just had no idea the shape of my actual body."

Thankfully though, the 59-year-old's perception of body image changed as she got older and she started understanding herself better.

"I just realized, 'Oh no, it's okay. This is just what I look like. That's okay. Do what you need to do to be healthy but this is your body and it's okay,'" she concluded.

Despite the unconscious triggers for her body image issues, the actress has absolutely no reservations about her friendship with both Aniston and Cox.

When appearing on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show, she opened up about how the three have stayed close over the years, even through the most difficult times.

Revealing personal details about the death of her mom, who passed away during the height of the pandemic in 2020, Kudrow said that Aniston and Cox were there to offer her support.

"These women came running to support, that was really nice," she said. "They came to the funeral, it wasn't a lot of notice, and they were there."
