Machine Gun Kelly reportedly ended up leaving an F1 event early after an excruciatingly awkward interview at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
On Sunday (November 5), the 33-year-old rapper - whose real name is Colson Baker - was stopped by Martin Brundle for a gridwalk interview before the race and driver Max Verstappen's big win.
The conversation initially seemed to go smoothly, as the 'Home' musician said he was "honored" to be attending the race, however, the first hints of awkwardness came when he reached over to touch the 64-year-old broadcaster's pin, with Brundle explaining: "That's a poppy."
The racing driver-turned-broadcaster then asked MGK how things were going in his career, to which Kelly responded: "What are you saying? I don’t think about my career, I don’t think about it."
Clearly stumped, Brundle then quipped: "Well good luck with it, whatever you do."
Watch the awkward interview below:The pair then continued to share a more normal line of conversation, with the artist talking about how Formula 1 drivers put their "life on the line" and how he bumped into Lewis Hamilton at the recording studio.
However, it only got more uncomfortable from there when Machine Gun Kelly attempted to coax the Sky Sports interviewer into joining him for a live air guitar and air piano session.
But Brundle was clearly embarrassed and said: "No there's millions [of people watching]. You do it!... Uh no, I can't. I learned the piano once and I learned the middle C and that was about it."
Kelly, however, was determined not to give up and asked once again for an air piano-air guitar collaboration. While he fulfilled his side of it, the flustered veteran driver said: "I can't do it! I probably need to get on as there are some people I need to see."
The 'Emo Girl' rapper then abruptly put his thumb down to the camera and stormed away, shaking his head. As he walked away, Brundle simply joked: "Something tells me I won’t be on his Christmas card list."
After watching the agonizing clip, fans did not hold back as they took to social media to share their reactions.
One user wrote: "THE MOST awkwaaarrd interview EVEEEEERRRRR"
Another said: "Classic cringe!", while a third commented: "That was properly awkward! I don’t think it was Martin either!"
A fourth remarked: "All celebrities should be removed from the grid they have no business being there….only drivers and team personnel so we can have some better grid walk moments."
Machine Gun Kelly has now responded to the backlash surrounding the interview by replying to a now-deleted tweet, saying: "My vibe is 'the worst' how?
"Because someone put a microphone in my face essentially forcing me to do a random interview when I was just trying to enjoy an event?", he continued. "Because car engines were so loud I couldn't hear him? please tell me more about why I'm the worst."
In a separate tweet, the 'Bloody Valentine' singer also penned: "My anxiety has won. I hate being in public."
This isn't the first time the popular Sky Sports interviewer has been left in a sticky situation by a celebrity.
He also endured uncomfortable encounters with DJ Khaled and Pharrell Williams in Miami in 2022, as well as a slightly "rude" exchange with Cara Delevingne at Silverstone earlier this year, in which the British model refused to talk to Brundle.
