Australian actress Margot Robbie has detailed her shock after learning that her latest project managed to get away with including a scandalous orgy scene.
The 32-year-old is set to grace screens in her upcoming movie Babylon, which is slated for release in January 2023. Set in 1920s Hollywood, the movie highlights the depravity and decadence leading to the rise and fall of several ambitious characters during the transition from silent films to talkies.
Also starring Brad Pitt, Tobey Maguire, Diego Calva, Olivia Wilde, and even Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea - Robbie portrays an aspiring actress named Nellie LaRoy who is a self-destructive silent film star.
Speaking with fellow actress Carey Mulligan for Variety's series Actors on Actors, Robbie revealed that she had been surprised certain scenes were even allowed to be left in the script.
Mulligan - who appeared opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Maguire in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby - had initially asked Robbie about one of the movie's early scenes, which she said was: "This enormously debauched, crazy, wild party [...] lots of people wearing very little or nothing."
Robbie replied: "It's pretty much a party-slash-orgy. It kind of turns into an orgy."
The Wolf of Wall Street actress then described the upcoming flick as "mad," adding: "When I read the script, I was like, this is like La Dolce Vita and Wolf of Wall Street had a baby - and I love it. But I was like, 'are we allowed to show that? Are we allowed to show that?'"
She continued: "There were so many scenes where I was like, a) I have no idea how I'm going to do that, and b) are we going to get away with this?"
Also discussed briefly in the interview was director Greta Gerwig's upcoming Barbie movie - starring Oscar-nominated Robbie and Hollywood hunk Ryan Gosling. The plot remains under wraps, but Robbie revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the film will give viewers "the thing you didn't know you wanted."

"We like the things that feel a little left of center," the actress added. She then continued that many people reading reports that she was playing Barbie were initially saying: "I know what that is," but that the movie's ultimate goal is to give fans "something totally different."
Babylon is set for release on January 6, 2023, with Barbie slated to hit screens later in the year, around July.
