These days, countless inspirational people are proving that, well, being absolute fire has no expiry date.

And neither does fun, as the video below proves:

Now, Martha Stewart has set tongues wagging on Instagram with a 'thirst trap' selfie.

In the picture, the 78-year-old lifestyle guru can be seen living her best life in frosty pink lipstick, shimmery eyeshadow, and mascara as she tilts her head to the side and pouts for the photo.

Martha captioned the sultry snap, which was quickly deemed a "thirst trap" in the comments section: "My pool in East Hampton is the place to be on a 89 degree day!

"When I built the pool thirty years ago it was designed to be as chlorine free as possible, with a natural concrete finish-no paint- and it fit in a long narrow space between the house and the property line.

"I made it extra deep for diving and with no protruding steps so we could really race the length without worrying about obstacles. After all these years, It is a fun place to swim!!!"

Leahmob wrote in response to the snap: "Omg Martha with thirst trap i [sic] love it."

The 78-year-old subsequently spoke to Entertainment Tonight on Monday and revealed that she previously didn't know what a "thirst trap" was.

After being given the definition, she said of the snap: "That's definitely a thirst trap."

However, while fans might have thought that the picture was a thirst trap, this wasn't Martha's intention and she said she "just thought [she] looked great coming out of the pool."

"My camera came on backwards, you know, selfie mode, and I looked so nice. The sun was on my face," she recalled. "I thought, 'Oh, that looks pretty,' so I took the picture. It looked good."
