Marvel star Jonathan Majors has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman in New York.

The 33-year-old actor - who has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as different versions of the supervillain Kang the Conqueror - was arrested on Saturday (March 25) after being accused of assaulting a woman during a domestic dispute.

TMZ reported that police were called to a residence near the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan at around 11:00AM.

The woman - who outlets have detailed is Majors' girlfriend (but this is unconfirmed) - apparently had visible injuries, including a laceration behind her ear and red marks on her face.

It has been alleged by TMZ that the incident began as Majors and his girlfriend became embroiled in an argument while heading home in a taxi from a Brooklyn bar, as she noticed he was texting another woman. The outlet also claimed that Majors slapped his girlfriend and choked her.

Police identified Majors in a statement about the incident, saying: "The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident."

A representative for Majors has maintained that the star has committed any wrongdoing, stating: "He has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up."

Majors has appeared in various Marvel flicks, but is set to star as the central character in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty for a May 2025 release, The Hollywood Reporter detailed.

Earlier this year, he appeared on the cover of Ebony magazine, where he hit out at critics who have accused him of not being "masculine" enough due to his fashion choices, stating: "You tell me what masculinity is…It is fluid. I wouldn't wanna walk up on me in the street."

He also added: "There's strength and there's vulnerability. There's awareness, and then there's acknowledgement of ignorance. It doesn't matter how much you weigh or how much you bench press. That's not the point. But, I hear my brothers. We fight and claw for every inch of positive news we get. I don't shy away from this idea of Black masculinity. I'm just living my life. I am male. I am Black."

Later in the interview Majors - who is father to a nine-year-old daughter - said that he wants to be the type of actor "the young homies" look up to, remarking: "When the young homies are looking at me like, 'I want to be like Jonathan Majors,' cool man. I'm trying to be like somebody else. I'm trying to be like Sidney Poitier. I'm trying to be like Denzel Washington. I'm trying to be like Philip Seymour Hoffman. I really believe - just do the best you can."
