Matthew Perry's ex-fiancée, Molly Hurwitz, has spoken out following the news of the beloved actor's death on Saturday.

The entertainment world has been shocked by the sudden death of the 54-year-old Friends actor, who was best known for his portrayal of the lovable joker Chandler Bing in the hit nineties sitcom Friends.

TMZ and Los Angeles Times were the first to report on the tragedy, with the outlets stating that the actor had passed away at his home in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles on Saturday (October 28).

As the story developed, it was revealed that an initial 911 call had been made just after 4PM on Saturday for a "water emergency" after Perry had been found unresponsive in the hot tub of his home.

Soon after, Warner Bros. Television Group, which produced the TV show - confirmed the tragic passing in a statement, which read: "We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry."

"Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family. The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans," they added.

Perry is perhaps best known for starring in the hugely successful 90s sitcom Friends, alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow from 1994 to 2004.

Following news of his sudden passing, the late actor's ex-fiancée took to her Instagram to pen a heartbreaking tribute.

"He would love that the world is talking about how talented he was. And he really was very talented," Hurwitz began her message.

"As the Friends reunion was approaching, we rewatched the show together. (He said) 'F***, I was so good!!!… See what I did there???'" she continued. "We rewound and studied scenes. Our respect and appreciation of humor is something that connected us. Being with him as he rediscovered his brilliance was magical."

The literary manager - who was in a relationship with Perry from 2018 to 2021 - went on to state in her heartfelt post that their relationship was "complicated".

"But, I obviously knew that man in a very different way, too. While I loved him deeper than I could comprehend, he was complicated, and he caused pain like I’d never known," she said. "No one in my adult life has had a more profound impact on me than Matthew Langford Perry."

Hurwitz continued, referencing Perry’s struggle with substance abuse: "I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Al-Anon [support groups for people who have been impacted by another person's alcoholism]. An invaluable resource for those who love someone struggling with this destructive disease."

In a final note, she concluded her post, "Matty, I feel relief that you are at peace. Sincerely, Moll-o-Rama(…fication)."

There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."

"In time we will say more, as and when we are able," the statement continues. "For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."

Furthermore, Perry's family also shared a statement about the devastating news, telling People: "We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner revealed that Perry's cause of death has been "deferred" as his initial autopsy results are inconclusive pending a toxicology report.

According to their report, via NBC News, a further investigation has been requested before a determination will be made - which can take several weeks - but stated that his body is ready to be released to his family.

Additionally, no evident signs of trauma were noted, as verified by an LA Police representative to CBS News.
