Megyn Kelly made an interesting statement about emotional and sexual infidelity during an interview with a Canadian professor on her recent podcast episode.

Kelly, who hosts The Megyn Kelly Show on SiriusXM, was interviewing Gad Saad, a marketing professor at Concordia University in Montréal, Quebec.

The discussion centered on a range of topics - including Olivia Wilde's comments on Jordan B. Peterson, "a society of whiners," and the alleged rocky marriage between Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady.

During the segment, Kelly and Saad were discussing the latter, with Kelly reading a Page Six report mentioning rumors that Bündchen and Brady had hired divorce lawyers.

As previously reported, the former Victoria's Secret Model and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback are apparently living separately and have hired divorce lawyers after Brady's shock decision to start playing again for the Buccaneers, a mere two months after retiring from the NFL.

While not having spoken directly about the status of her marriage, Bündchen did speak to ELLE about her feelings on her husband's deicsion to return to the sport, stating: "Obviously, I have my concerns - this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present. I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again.

"But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too."

The mom-of-two had also added that she'd stepped away from her modeling career to focus on Brady and her young children, saying: "I've done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom]. I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams."

Kelly and Saad discussed the Hollywood gossip surrounding the marriage of the former power couple, with Saad stating: "Statistically speaking, [Brady returning to football] seems to be an unlikely reason they would have broken up," adding that he was entering "speculation land."

He also told Kelly that women "get more triggered and more angry and more jealous by emotional infidelity rather than sexual infidelity."

The 57-year-old continued: "It doesn't mean that they're happy if their man sleeps around with other women. But if he develops an emotional, platonic bond with another woman… that might actually be a greater precursor of them splitting because emotional infidelity is the greatest threat to a woman's interest."

Kelly - who shares three children with her cybersecurity-CEO-turned-author husband Douglas Brunt - seemed to agree, as she replied: "I can see that. I'm thinking about my own husband - I'd much rather he have a one-night stand with a woman than sit and cry with her."

Saad then remarked that couples will split for two main reasons - "infidelity" or "financial conflict."

"Infidelity is much more of a death blow [to the relationship] if a woman cheats on a man than vice versa - not because of the patriarchy but because when a woman cheats on a guy, it triggers paternity uncertainty from an evolutionary perspective," he said to Kelly, before adding that it was "not quite the same thing" if a man cheated on a woman.

With Forbes listing Brady as the highest paid athlete of 2022 - the sports star is set to earn $75 million before taxes and agents' fees - it doesn't seem likely that financial conflict is at the heart of the couple's issues. That, however, is all just speculation.

After the segment aired, Kelly posted a text exchange between her and her husband to her Instagram. Her husband had texted Kelly the link to a New York Post article about her segment, adding underneath: "This feels like a trap."
