Sir Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman on-set antics against Daniel Radcliffe are helping to bring smiles to Harry Potter fans on this sad day.

The wizarding world is currently mourning the loss of Michael Gambon - who was best known internationally for his portrayal of Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter film series, taking over the role after the passing of Richard Harris.

The acting legend's family members - Lady Gambon and their son Fergus Gambon - issued a statement that revealed that he passed away peacefully in hospital.

"We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon," the statement, obtained by Sky News, read. "Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia."

Many fans are mourning the loss of one of the most prominent characters in the Harry Potter franchise, and are now looking back at his treasured work on screen and off-screen.

A humorous resurfaced video emerged online and showed Gambon and the late Alan Rickman - who is best known for portraying Severus Snape - pranking a young Daniel Radcliff.

On the set of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, in the scene where all of the students are sleeping in the hallways, Gambon and Rickman put a fart machine in Daniel's sleeping bag...yes, a fart machine.

While the cameras were rolling, the 82-year-old set off the machine, and it was only a matter of seconds before the entire cast was in waves of laughter.

Watch the hilarious moment below:

The 34-year-old who starred in the titular role actually spoke about the mischievous moment during a Q&A on Reddit back in 2014 and wrote:

"Alan Rickman decided he would plant one of those fart machines in my, uh, sleeping bag, and they waited until like -the camera had come in for this huge DRAMATIC developing shot, and then unleashed this tremendous noise in the great hall," he said.

"I immediately thought: 'This is one of the other kids f***ing around, and we were going to get in trouble.'" Radcliffe continued, "But as it turns out, it was one of the members of Britain's acting royalty. I think I laughed a lot, was probably a bit embarrassed, but it was really really funny."

Gambon was an accomplished star of stage and screen, winning Oliviers, BAFTAs, and Emmys throughout his outstanding six-decades-long career.

He made his acting debut in a production of Othello in Dublin in 1962, quickly joining the National Theatre in London, and going on to work on stages around the UK, USA, and Germany.

His first film was Othello (1965), which led him to star in a number of well-loved movies such as Gosford Park, Sleepy Hollow, and the Paddington films.

However, it was the Harry Potter series that widely introduced him to modern audiences after he replaced the late Richard Harris as the grandfatherly headmaster for the remaining six films.

Tributes have flooded in from fans and colleagues of the actor, including from James Phelps - who portrayed Fred Weasley from the age of 14. He described his former co-star as a "legend" both on and off screen, writing: "Very sorry to hear about the passing of Michael Gambon. He was, on and off the camera, a legend. Just a little memory of Michael."

Phelps looked back on a fond memory of Gambon from when they filmed Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, telling how he was always "welcome to share any knowledge" with his younger co-stars.

TV personality Jeremy Clarkson took to platform X to share: "I’m so sad to hear that Michael Gambon has died. He was hugely amusing, and such a tremendous guest, we even named a [Top Gear track] corner after him."

Our thoughts continue to be with Gambons' family, friends, and fans at this time.
