Michael J. Fox has revealed that the 80s were "a blur" and that he can't remember dating a famous singer amid his battle with Parkinson's disease.
The Back To The Future star is one of the most courageous men in showbiz, as he has faced adversity and has used it to help countless others.
The 61-year-old shot to fame when he starred in the 1985 film Back to the Future, alongside Christopher Lloyd, where he played Marty McFly, a high school student who goes back in time and has to make his parents fall in love.
The actor was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson's disease in 1991 at the age of 29. He disclosed his condition in 1998 and has since committed himself to campaign for increased research about the disease, per The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Michael is currently promoting his upcoming documentary, Still, and it was during an interview with The Sunday Times that he made the revelation that he can't remember some of his past.
During the 1980s, Michael dated The Bangles singer Susanna Hoffs but he has made the heartbreaking claim that he can't remember their relationship.
"When I look at that period in the [documentary] it just seems crazy," Michael told the outlet. "Look at all the girls I dated. Some of them I can’t even remember. I mean, I dated Susanna Hoffs from The Bangles, and I can’t even remember it. But that’s just an example. Stuff like that happened all the time."
The pair eventually went their separate ways and Michael married his former Family Ties co-star Tracy Pollan, who he often credits as giving him strength to face his battles.
The star went on to reveal how he has lost other memories from his youth: "I sat next to Princess Diana during the world premiere of Back To The Future and I had to pee. And that’s all I remember," he said.
He continued: "I had just been told a whole list of things that I could and couldn’t do, like not speaking unless spoken to, and not standing unless she stands. And so I was thinking, what kind of math do I have to do to go to the bathroom?"
During a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning's Jane Pauley, Michael made the heartbreaking reveal that he isn't expecting to live past 80.
"I've been thinking about the mortality of it... I’m not gonna be 80," he said. "It's banging on the door [...] I’m not going to lie, it's getting hard, it's getting harder," he adds. "Every day is tougher. But, but that's — that's the way it is."
We wish Michael all the best in his ongoing fight against Parkinson's.
