Fans have been left confused after hearing Millie Bobby Brown speak in a new interview, with many questioning what's happened to her accent.

The British actress, best known for her roles in Netflix hits such as Stranger Things and Enola Holmes, recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where she debuted a whole new accent, leaving fans baffled.

Have a look at the interview below:

The 20-year-old has been known to have a pretty strong British accent, growing up in Bournemouth in the United Kingdom for eight years before moving to Florida.

While she initially kept her British twang over the years, things have now seemingly shifted as fans noticed that her accent sounds wildly different from her usual one.

Discussing her underwater proposal by Jake Bongiovi, the son of musician Jon Bon Jovi, she appeared to switch between a handful of different tones.

"So we go under, and we're many meters down and he gives me like, a shell. And I turn it over and it’s a ring," she told Fallon.

She then described how she put the ring on her finger before it slid off and "plummeted" deep into the water, prompting her new fiancé to swim after it.

Even though the story was both hilarious and adorable at the same time, viewers couldn't help but be distracted by the sound of Brown's voice.

"Her British accent is barely there anymore i know she's been in America for a long time now but omg it used to be SO strong," wrote one user under the video.

"It almost sounds like she's doing an impersonation of an American accent throughout this interview," another added.

"Her American accent... the last time I watch her interview her British accent was so so strong!" a third also commented.

Others also compared her new accent to that of a "rich valley girl" with this social media user stating: "Millie speaks like a rich valley girl now like damn it's like the accent is there but barely w a pinch of sass xD <3 no hate love her." However, others jumped in to defend the star stating that the location, as well as the roles she's played, have had a natural impact on her. "Imagine being upset about someone else’s accent," said one fan while another added: "For everyone saying that she doesn’t have her British accent anymore, bear in mind that she is currently filming Stranger Things 5 so she has been using her American accent more recently."

Taking to Twitter, better known now as X, the official account for the hit show posted a black-and-white photo of the cast alongside the caption: "THIS IS A CODE RED... STRANGER THINGS 5 production has officially begun!!!"

While there has been no official release date, Screen Rant suggested that fans could be waiting until 2025 for new episodes.
