Barbenheimer is officially in full force as many film fans have chosen to watch the Barbie and Oppenheimer movie back to back - but other moviegoers have warned them to stick to one particular order if they're going for the double-bill.

Greta Gerwig's vibrant flick about the Mattel doll Barbie and her male counterpart Ken stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling leading an all-star cast including Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, John Cena, and Will Ferrell among many others.

The light-hearted movie about the beloved doll could not be more different to Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, which sees Cillian Murphy take on the role of the theoretical physicist who was instrumental in the creation of nuclear weapons and the atomic bomb.

With thousands having watched both films back-to-back already, many have advised that cinema-goers would be better off starting with Barbie first.

They took to Twitter to advise: "Having done #Barbenheimer, I can confirm that the order should be BARBIE first, then OPPENHEIMER, but give yourself a break in between. Give both movies room to breathe. Have all the emotional fun with BARBIE, let it soak in, then see OPPENHEIMER and sit with the weight of it."

Another added: "Now that I’ve seen #BARBENHEIMER, I highly recommend watching #BARBIE first, then #OPPENHEIMER! Barbie is really fun, but Oppenheimer stays with you — you don’t wanna be thinking about Oppenheimer while watching Barbie! (Or maybe you do?)".

One fan wrote: "Confirmed: The best way to do the double feature is Barbie first and then Oppenheimer," to which another replied: "I can’t imagine seeing Barbie after Oppenheimer tbh. I couldn’t do anything after Oppenheimer other than stare into darkness with dread."

A fellow #Barbenheimer viewer noted: "Now that I have seen Oppenheimer, here's a tip for my fellow moviegoers: If you're doing the Barbenheimer double-bill, go to Barbie *first*. Oppenheimer's last 1 hour just might harrow you for a while."

The double-bill had been dubbed 'Barbenheimer' after it was announced that both of the highly-anticipated movies would be released on the same day, leaving many wanting to watch them back to back.

The hype didn't miss Hollywood stars either, as Tom Cruise told a reporter on the red carpet that he too would be heading to the movie theater on opening day.

Despite the wise advice of other filmgoers, he admitted he would be bucking the trend and watching Oppenheimer before Barbie.

He revealed: "I haven't quite decided. It'll be Oppenheimer first and then Barbie I think. [...] I'll probably see [Oppenheimer] in the afternoon - you want that packed audience - and then I want to see Barbie right afterwards with a packed audience."

Tom also explained: "I used to plan my days where you'd start out early in the morning and you'd go to movies all day, and I like doing that. I'd go from one cinema to the next and I'm going to do that. So I'm going to see them both on opening day."

Hey, there's definitely a case for some light relief in the form of Barbie after watching the dark tale of Robert J. Oppenheimer.
