Calling all dancing queens - Swedish pop outfit, Abba - are due to release five brand new songs in 2021.

The foursome were tipped to put out new music this year as part of a major reunion but were forced to postpone their plans due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

As the band's last studio album was released back in 1982, it's safe to say that fans have had quite a wait. The Waterloo hitmakers later released three previously unreleased songs over a decade later in 1993 and 1994, respectively.

Per the Independent, Geoff Lloyd - who is a co-host of the Reasons To Be Cheerful podcast - said: "I got to spend an hour […] with Björn Ulvaeus from Abba via Zoom. He’s quarantining – he’s got an island in the Stockholm archipelago."

"They’ve recorded five new songs. They should have been out at the end of last year… Because of technical difficulties and the pandemic, it’s delayed things. But he promised me that the new Abba music will be out in 2021," he continued.

The Swedish four-piece - which consisted of Ulvaes, Benny Andersson, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog - shot to international stardom back in 1974 after winning the Eurovision Song Contest with their song, Waterloo, which went onto become a smash hit.

At the height of their fame, the band consisted of not one, but two, married couples. Ultimately, however, both relationships broke down during their time as a group.

Speaking about getting the four of them back together in May, Ulvaes said, according to the publication: "It took half a minute and somehow we were back in time like we had been there yesterday as well. It was so strange. That feeling between us was extraordinary."

Well, I guess it's time to head over to Netflix to watch Mamma Mia to get our Abba fix while we wait!
