Britney Spears' longtime friend and assistant Felicia Culotta has spoken out in defence of her in the wake of a new documentary.
The New York Times' shocking exposé film, Framing Britney, examines the rise of the iconic musician and charts her mental and emotional breakdown in 2007, which led to her father becoming her conservator in 2008.
Per Too Fab, Culotta (one of Spears' oldest friends) was prominently featured in the documentary and provided plenty of intriguing insights into the starlet's life for fans to mull over.

Culotta explained that she had been friends with Britney since the singer was five-years-old, with them meeting at the same church group in their mutual hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana.
Culotta was a nanny in New York City when Spears landed a record deal after the success of her single 'Hit Me Baby One More Time,' and was headhunted by the singer's mother, Lynne Spears, to act as her personal assistant.
Per Too Fab, Culotta recalled:
"[Lynne] said: 'Felicia I had an ulterior motive for inviting you to dinner. [Britney] got a record deal today and I can't travel with her. Jamie Lynn's in the first grade, can you travel with her?"

Culotta continued:
"To be honest, I didn't then nor do I now understand what a conservatorship is. Especially for somebody's Britneys age and somebody capable of so much. I know, firsthand, [what] she's capable of."
"Once the conservatorship started, my role changed. When I went back, it was a different business management and her dad was involved. They did not hire me, the touring company hired me.
"I don't know why the Britney company didn't hire me. All I know is, maybe, they didn't know the role I had played earlier.
"So I took a backseat and simply did what I was hired to do. I don't really know what went on, I just don't know that they knew her well enough to realize her capabilities in making the decisions. Just me looking in, that's what I saw."

She added: "I know at some point she will tell her story, I know she will and I am so grateful for when that point comes. Everything will fall into place."
Sky News, in the aftermath of the documentary, a number of other celebrities, including Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, Khloé Kardashian, and Miley Cyrus, have taken to Twitter to show their support for Britney.
