Earlier today, the family of legendary rockstar Meat Loaf announced that the chart-topper had sadly passed away at the age of 74.
In a heartbreaking Facebook post, the family wrote: "Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends."
"We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man," the statement added, before concluding: "From his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!"
Following the news of his passing, celebrities in and out of the music world have been taking to social media to remember Meat Loaf and his ingrained impact on the entertainment industry.
Cher, who performed with Meat Loaf on the track 'Dead Ringer For Love', tweeted out: "Had So Much Fun With Meatloaf When We Did 'Dead Ringer'. Am Very Sorry For His Family, Friends, & Fans. Am I imagining It, or Are Amazing [People] In The Arts Dying every other Day?"
Sharing a hilarious story about his late friend, popstar Boy George tweeted: "R.I.P Meatloaf. Love and prayers to all his family and close friends. He once turned me upside down in a Chinese Restaurant in St Johns Wood"
Composer and legend of musical theater Andrew Lloyd Webber also shared paid his respects to Meat Loaf, and gave a nod to the star's long-time collaborator Jim Steinman, writing: "The vaults of heaven will be ringing with rock. RIP Meatloaf. Give my best to Jim. - ALW"
Singer and current Queen touring partner Adam Lambert also shared his thoughts on the operatic rock trailblazer, writing: "A gentle hearted powerhouse rockstar forever and ever. You were so kind. Your music will always be iconic. I’m sure you’re singing concerts in the great beyond. Rest In Peace sir."
Bonnie Tyler, another power ballad icon and former collaborator with the late star, shared her thoughts on Meat Loaf's passing, writing: "I am shocked & saddened by the sudden death of Meat Loaf. He was, as you might imagine, a larger than life character with a voice & stage presence to match & is one of those rare people who truly was a one off talent and personality. Rest In Peace."
Pop icon Rick Astley shared a photo of the two together, along with the caption: "Meat Loaf. What a legend. Rest in peace - Rick x"
British presenter Piers Morgan also shared his respects to the last star, writing: "RIP Meat Loaf, 74. One of rock music’s all-time great characters whose seminal iconic album Bat Out Of Hell is one of the biggest-selling records in history. A wondrously talented, flamboyant, funny, outrageous, and rebellious chameleon. Sad news."
Meat Loaf is survived by his wife Deborah and daughters Pearl and Amanda.
